Mississippi Church Burned to the Ground For Fighting City’s Orders

Holly Springs, MS – A Mississippi church was burned to the ground early Wednesday morning. The First Pentecostal Church of Holly Springs was vandalized and an explosion set off in the back of the church blew out the front. A message left spray painted on the parking lot gave the clue as to the motivation of the arsonist: “I Bet you stay home now you hypokrits.” The incident is being investigated as arson.

The Mississippi church started legal action against the city of  Holly Springs over the stay-at-home order. Governor Tate Reeves included churches as essential, but the city of Holly Springs did not. But their edict was in conflict with the original stay-at-home order from the Governor.

“It is very clear local municipalities can have guidelines that are more strict than the governor’s guidelines, but they cannot have guidelines that directly conflict with what we have put in place.” Governor Reeves

In a 14 page lawsuit filed with the court in April, Pastor Jerry Waldrop stated that he has held primarily drive-in services, and inside during inclement weather with social distancing guidelines in place. It alleges that Holly Springs police disrupted a Bible Study and Easter service in April. The church sought an injunction against the city for disrupting the inside services.

In April, U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mills issued an order that gave First Pentecostal Church the right to be open for drive-in services. Judging from the grafitti left on the church parking lot, someone didn’t like the church standing up for their rights.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The left wing factions

“We’re in a time where I don’t think it’s any secret that there’s a growing hostility toward churches, across the board. And now, here are churches like First Pentecostal that are sort of stirring up the waters by being outspoken and somewhat firm about seeking to protect their Constitutional rights… They’ve had bad comments [sent their way] on social media…There is just a segment that takes issue with the church standing up, and the church just being the church.” Church Attorney Steven Crampton (Fox News)
