Murder-Suicide at San Bernardino School

California – What police are describing as a murder-suicide stemming from a domestic dispute has left two adults dead and 2 students wounded at an elementary school in San Bernardino.

Update: Jonathan Martinez, an 8 year old student, died from a wound receive in today’s shooting. He and the other child were standing behind the female victim when the shooter, identified as Cedric Anderson, opened fire on a teacher named Karen Elaine Smith. The children were not targets, they just happened to be standing near the teacher.

Police were called to the school for a report of an active shooter. It appears that the shooter walked to the North Park Elementary School campus and opened fire in a classroom. Two adults were found dead in the classroom, and two students were wounded. The students were hospitalized, their conditions unknown.

Two other elementary schools were placed on lockdown, and the students at Cal State were told to shelter in place.

The elementary school was evacuated, and students sent to Cal State San Bernardino, and the parents sent to Cajon High School to verify their identities before going to the college to pick up their children. The incident was confined to North Park Elementary.

According to the LA Times, North Park Elementary has about 500 students, primarily low income and Hispanic.
