Minneapolis riots over the death of George Floyd left at least one person dead, several buildings burned and stores emptied from looting. The protests began near the Minneapolis Police 3rd Precinct, but quickly became riots. This has happened many times after high profile deaths. The Mayor asked the Governor to call out the National Guard.
Minnesota riots: Arson, Looting, Death
One man was shot to death during the evening. Police theorize that a shop owner caught him looting and shot him, but the full investigation has not been completed. One 59 year old male is in custody. Many stores were completely trashed by the looting. Thieves even broke into ATMs and cash registers.
Looters also broke into every cash register and self checkout at the store to steal the money inside. Similar treatment was given to ATM machines in several stores, the Daily Caller reporter observed. After Target and every other business that shared its strip mall were looted, fires were set.
According to Kyle Hooten, the Daily Caller reporter who was on the scene, looters actually stood in the parking lots taking orders for items that could be stolen from stores.

Damaged in the Minneapolis riots: Target, Wendys, the Dollar Store, Cub Foods, Auto Zone, Hi Lake Liquors, and a 6 story building under construction that was slated to become an affordable housing complex. Rioters set fire to bails of insulation at the base of the building. Ultimately, it collapsed. The Auto Zone was also totally destroyed.

The rioters/looters appeared to be not just blacks, but whites as well. This episode did nothing for the death of George Floyd. It did not bring him back, it did not bring justice, it did nothing except ruin the cause of those who particpated in it.
The Department of Justice has promised a “robust” probe into the death of Mr. Floyd (Fox). Derek Chauvin was the former officer with his knee on Floyd for 8 minutes. The other three former police employees were Thomas Lane, Tou Thao, and J. Alexander Kueng. Not all white, obviously.
