Linn County Deputy Shot Multiple Times While Responding to Robbery- Suspect Arrested
A Linn County Deputy was shot multiple times as he responded to a Robbery at Casey’s General Store in Coggon, Iowa on Sunday. The incident unfolded at around 10:30 p.m. when an alarm went off at the store. The first officer on the scene was the Linn County Deputy. As he walked into the store, an armed suspect opened fire and shot him several times.

UPDATE: A suspect has been arrested in this shooting after a manhunt. Stanley Donohue, 36, has been charged with attempted murder and armed robbery. Donohue is from Chicago.

The suspect fled in a van, which was noted by another responding deputy, who chased the vehicle. The suspect crashed it on north 3rd street and fled on foot. He is still at large as of this writing. He is described as a black male, mid-30s, between 5’1″ and 6’2, between 210-220, LSW a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. Police advised all people in the area to remain inside, lock their doors, and report any suspicious activity to 911.
Numerous law enforcement agencies are responding to assist deputies in the Coggon area after a robbery in-progress was reported at the Casey’s Store. Shots were fired and a deputy was wounded. Stay indoors and lock your doors. Report suspicious activity immediately at 9-1-1
Police believe there is only one suspect in this incident, but will continue the investigation as they search for the suspect.

The wounded officer was life-flighted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) with what the Linn County Sheriff’s office described as “serious injuries.” His name has not been released.
