Politicians, media blamed for shooting attack against San Antonio ICE office

Early Tuesday morning, one person was reportedly injured when multiple shots were fired through the window of a San Antonio ICE building, News4 San Antonio reported.  One person was arrested but later released after learning the individual was not connected to the shooting.  According to the report, another ICE facility was attacked at about the same time.

But the attack prompted ICE ERO San Antonio Field Office Director Daniel Bible to blame irresponsible rhetoric from politicians, media and activists for creating a climate in which such attacks could take place.

“This attack at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Field Office in San Antonio is completely without justification,” he said. “Political rhetoric and misinformation that various politicians, media outlets and activist groups recklessly disseminate to the American people regarding the ICE mission only serve to further encourage these violent acts. ICE officers put their lives on the line each and every day to keep our communities safe. This disturbing public discourse shrouds our critical law enforcement function and unnecessarily puts our officers’ safety at risk.”

The FBI is reviewing surveillance video and other evidence, which, the report added, could take a while.

As we and others have reported, Democrat Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats, along with their allies in the so-called “mainstream media,” have engaged in a reckless campaign of overheated rhetoric and calls for ICE to be disbanded.

According to AOC and others, ICE and others are running what they call “concentration camps” on the border while subjecting illegals to treatment reminiscent of Nazi Germany.  The truth, however, is quite different.

Tuesday’s attack is reportedly the fourth such incident in about a month.

The Washington Examiner tells us:

Last month, protesters with Never Again blocked the entrances to ICE’s national headquarters in Washington, D.C.

In mid-July, police in Tacoma, Washington, fatally shot an armed man after they said he hurled Molotov cocktails at an ICE building.

On July 12, a group of protesters in Aurora, Colorado, took down an American flag and two other flags from outside an ICE facility and raised a Mexican flag and a defaced “thin blue line” flag, which commemorates law enforcement.

Emily Covington, a spokeswoman for the GEO Group, a private prison company that manages some of the agency’s holding facilities, said its Boca Raton, Florida, headquarters was protested at earlier this week as a result of “misinformation about the services the company provides and by escalating rhetoric from activists.”

Ken Cuccinelli, the acting director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, posted a photo showing a bullet hole in one window:

Reaction on Twitter is pretty much what you’d expect:

We tend to agree.

Exit question:  Will AOC, her fellow Democrats and allies in the media, ever be held accountable for inciting this ongoing violence?
