Liberal media darling David Hogg demands spring breakers boycott Florida until gun control passed
Since appearing on the scene after the tragic Parkland school shooting, 17-year-old David Hogg has become something of a liberal media darling, appearing on virtually every major network and cable news program to promote the so-called “NeverAgain” movement, which, the Miami Herald reported, has received $2 million in funding from George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, and fellow Hollywood celebrity leftists.
On Saturday, Hogg took to Twitter to suggest collegians boycott Florida as a spring break destination unless state legislators pass gun control legislation.
Let's make a deal DO NOT come to Florida for spring break unless gun legislation is passed. These politions won't listen to us so maybe the'll listen to the billion dollar tourism industry in FL. #neveragain

He later donned his travel agent hat and suggested an alternative destination: Puerto Rico. According to Hogg, who apparently has been granted all worldly wisdom, “it’s a beautiful place” but the island “could really use the economic support that the government has failed to provide.”
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Better Idea: Spend your spring break in Puerto Rico, it's a beautiful place with amazing people. They could really use the economic support that the government has failed to provide. #SpringBreak2018 #SBinPurtoRico #itsspelled PUERTO RICO

Not everyone was ready to follow Hogg’s edict:

yep, no smarter way to enact better laws than threatening the livelihood of thousands of people just trying to make a living in your state. WOW!

And of course, there were quite a few ready, willing and able to follow the media’s latest Pied Piper:
Fantastic idea!

I like many Canadians travel to Florida from time to time to escape our winter. I can't speak for others but I will not be returning until meaningful gun control legislation is in place.

A number of leftists seem ready to nominate the youngster for public office, which makes sense since his understandably naïve world view (he is a teenager, after all) is a distillation of their own. They, too, are eager to pass more stringent gun control laws without first bothering to determine the likely long-term impact, if any.
When they do, they are often surprised at what they find. Leah Libresco, a former writer for Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight, penned an op-ed in The Washington Post last August with the cautionary title “I used to think gun control was the answer. My research told me otherwise.” Among her findings:
When I looked at the other oft-praised policies, I found out that no gunowner walks into the store to buy an “assault weapon.” It’s an invented classification that includes any semi-automatic that has two or more features, such as a bayonet mount, arocket-propelled [sic] grenade-launcher mount, a folding stock or a pistol grip. But guns are modular, and any hobbyist can easily add these features at home, just as if they were snapping together Legos.
Hogg will hopefully grow up in due course and may come to see life and its events in a less black-and-white, right-or-wrong way. Sadly, the majority of adults on the Left are long overdue.
We’re just curious: If Hogg told these people to jump in an erupting volcano for spring break, would they blindly follow?
