Ksenia Karelina, Dual Russian/US Citizen Detained in Russia for “Treason”

California ballerina's $50 donation to Ukraine landed her in custody.

Putin’s penalties have landed another American in prison for treason. This time, they considered a small $50 donation to a Ukrainian organization to be a massive danger to the state. Ksenia Karelina, 33, is a resident of Los Angeles, and holds dual Russian/US citizenship. She was arrested when she went to visit her parents in Yekaterinburg, the same town where WSJ journalist Evan Gershkovich was arrested.

The FSB, Federal Security Bureau, reportedly snagged Karelina because the organization she donated to allegedly supplies weapons and military equipment for the Ukraine military.

A court in Yekaterinburg sent a citizen of Russia and the United States to a pre-trial detention center in a case of treason, the press service of the FSB reported.

According to the SBU, the woman “since February 2022 has been proactively raising money in the interests of one of the Ukrainian organizations, which was subsequently used to purchase tactical medicine, equipment, weapons and ammunition by the Armed Forces of Ukraine” (Article 275 of the Criminal Code).

She also “repeatedly took part in public actions” in support of Ukraine.

The girl is 33 years old and lived in Los Angeles, the FSB said in a statement. The department published footage of a security officer in camouflage leading her with a hat down over her eyes and handcuffing her.” Media Zone

Is it “proactive” for such a small amount? The organization she donated $51.8 to is called Razom for Ukraine. The FSB claims they are using donations to purchase military items that are against Russian war involvement in Ukraine. It isn’t clear how the FSB tracked her donation, but if they can do it to her, our own government can do it to us. Our agencies are weaponized almost as bad as Russia’s. (Just ask any of the Jan 6 defendants). Razom for Ukraine is a nonprofit based in New York, which raises an obvious question about the tracking of her donation.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Ksenia married an American in 2021, obtained her American citizenship, and began living in Los Angeles, according to the Russian outlet. She is supposedly set to appear in court Tuesday, Feb 20 for the accusation of treason. Over a donation of slightly over $50.

There are now 3 US citizens in Russian prisons: Paul Whelan, a US Marine veteran, Evan Gershkovich, a journalist for the WSJ, and now Ksenia Karelina, a ballerina from California. Are they just bargaining chips, or are Putin’s penalties signals of extreme danger to come?
