On Sunday, a fire was set on Canfield Mountain in Kootenai County, Idaho. When firefighters arrived, they were immediately fired upon by a suspect. Two battalion chiefs and two firefighters were reportedly down, according to scanner reports. The actual number of persons injured is unknown at this time.
The fire is still a problem, according to local reports, as the area is extremely dry. Northern Lakes Fire Department confirmed that firefighters were shot while responding to the situation in the area of East Nettleton Gulch Road. This area is in Kootenai County, close to the City of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Update: The FBI is on scene. The shooter is still on the loose. The Sheriff reported that two firefighters were killed, and that they do not know whether there is one shooter, or multiple. The fire has not been put out. Numerous law enforcement agencies have responded.
