Sometime in the beginning of December, someone helped Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) leave his favorite McDonald’s, where he was stuck in one of the golden arches. Apparently, the hero who helped the Rep. squeeze out motivated the Congressman to use extra power by luring him out with a box of Oreos.
When he finished pigging out on the Oreos, Nadler wrote a manifesto teaching Americans “HOW WE RESIST TRUMP AND HIS EXTREME AGENDA.” It’s really not a surprising title and manifesto from the guy who tried to get Americans to ignore the Mueller report because he believed Russiagate and pushed through the impeachment of President Trump after his term was over and he left office.
Nadler’s tome began:
“Since Election Day, many people have asked me what they might do to support those of us in Congress who are ready and willing to stand up and fight the Trump agenda (…) We cannot wait four years to vote Mr. Trump out of office, as members of the GOP Senate and House Majorities have already stated that they will facilitate the Trump agenda, even if they weren’t supporters of his during the campaign. So we must do everything we can to stop Trump and his extreme agenda now.”
Nadler’s fight against Trump is not about politics. The Congressman has been fighting against the future since the future President proposed building what he called “Television City.” The project would have included,
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
“7,600 high-rise apartments, the largest shopping mall on the east coast, and sprawling television studios for NBC, which was considering a move to New Jersey. The crowning jewel of Trump’s Television City would be a lavish 152-story condo — the tallest building in the world at the time — where Trump planned to live in the penthouse.”
Trump revised the plan twice to win the support of local politicians. He earned that support except for Nadler, whose opposition helped kill the development. I wonder if that incident taught AOC how to chase Amazon out of her district and NYC.
Nadler’s document laid out his tactics:
So we must do everything we can to stop Trump and his extreme agenda now. We do this by:
- Holding him accountable for the tenor and tactics of his campaign, as well as his past and ongoing deplorable personal, professional and political conduct;
- Waging fierce battles against every regressive action he takes—from personnel appointments to his legislative program—in order to thwart or at least slow them down;
- Exposing his Republican enablers in Congress, and voting them out of office in 2018, with the goal of taking back either the House or the Senate for Democratic control.
Jerrold spends the next two thousand words expanding on those three points. You can read it if you wish, but first, brew a gallon of coffee; you will need it.
Nadler ends with
This is an unprecedented moment, and it requires a kind of bravery, discipline and focus which historical moments of this import call for. We have no choice – people’s lives and the soul of our country is at stake. For our children and grandchildren, we must now stiffen our spines for this fight, because there is no time to waste and this is a fight we must not lose.
Notice how Jerold doesn’t give a damn that the American people voted for Trump because they wanted the Trump agenda. They didn’t like what the Democrats were feeding them, even though, thanks to the Democrats, some families didn’t have enough to feed them.
The bottom line is that the portly Congressman doesn’t care what the people want. He can’t win against the majority of Americans although he believes he can.
