House GOP Censured Schiff: He Says It’s a “Badge of Honor”

Adam Schiff, D-CA, (aka “Pencil Neck”) was censured by the House GOP on Wednesday by a vote of 213-209 with 6 Republicans voting “present.” He deserved it, but the Democrats threw a fit and created a chaotic situation on the House floor in protest by chanting “Shame.” The fact is, Schiff used his position as then Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee to push the lie that he was privy to information that proved Trump colluded with Russia. He had no such “evidence,” which was the basis for the censure.

Anna Paulina Luna, R-FL, originally inserted a fine to the California Congressman of $16 Million, but Republicans balked at it and did not pass the resolution. After she removed that section, they censured Schiff for his egregious actions. Five of the six Republicans who voted “present” are on the ethics committee, so traditionally they do not vote either way so as not to be viewed as biased.

The House has only censured two other lawmakers in the last 20 years. Republican Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona was censured in 2021 for tweeting an animated video that depicted him striking Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., with a sword. Former Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel of New York was censured in 2010 for serious financial and campaign misconduct.

The censure itself carries no practical effect, except to provide a historic footnote that marks a lawmaker’s career. But the GOP resolution would also launch an ethics investigation into Schiff’s conduct.

Luna said that Schiff’s comments that there was evidence against Trump “ripped apart American families across the country” and that he was “permanently destroying family relationships.” Several blamed him for the more than $30 million spent by then-special counsel Robert Mueller, who led the Justice Department probe. Schiff stated that he would wear being censured as a “badge of honor.”

“To my Republican colleagues who introduced this resolution, I thank you. You honor me with your enmity, you flatter me with this falsehood. You, who are the authors of a big lie about the last election, must condemn the truth tellers. And I stand proudly before you. Your words tell me that I have been effective in the defense of our democracy, and I am grateful.” Adam Schiff

Spoken like a true arrogant fool. There are no specific consequences of a censure, but the resolution will place him as the subject of an ethics investigation. Democrats gathered around their buddy, shouting “Shame” and “Disgrace” and attempting to call out House Speaker Kevin McCarthy for not censuring Santos, the Republican Congressman who is under investigation after lying on his resume. Their antics caused Speaker McCarthy to have to start over several times reading the resolution until he said, “I have all night.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The bottom line is that Schiff’s actions directly caused the nation to be further divided. His insistence that he had evidence (that he did not actually have) promoted a lie that tore the nation apart and directly impacted a sitting President. He deserves more than censure, but this will likely be all that happens to him. His definition of “effective” is as twisted as every other Democrat in the entire Congress.
