The legacy media has oft been accused by the political Right of creating and maintaining a bubble of protection around liberal politicians. Reporter Scott Pelly of CBS News may have given conservatives more ammunition in a recent one-on-one interview with Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton.

As cited by both print and video (see below) on Feb. 18, 2016 by CBS News, Pelly started strong with the former Secretary of State when he asked a fairly straightforward and simple question: “You talk about leveling with the American people. Have you always told the truth?” To the credit of Pelly’s journalistic integrity, he did stay strong with his painfully simple question despite Clinton sticking to her somewhat panicked talking point.

For her part, Clinton stuck to her guns that she’s always “tried” to tell the truth [Editor’s note: Remember, Clinton has a 40+ year history of lying and scheming to get her way.]. Specifically:

PELLEY:You know, in ’76, Jimmy Carter famously said, “I will not lie to you.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

CLINTON: Well, I have to tell you I have tried in every way I know how literally from my years as a young lawyer all the way through my time as secretary of state to level with the American people.

PELLEY: You talk about leveling with the American people. Have you always told the truth?

CLINTON: I’ve always tried to. Always. Always.

PELLEY: Some people are gonna call that wiggle room that you just gave yourself.

CLINTON: Well, no, I’ve always tried —

PELLEY: I mean, Jimmy Carter said, “I will never lie to you.”

CLINTON: Well, but, you know, you’re asking me to say, “Have I ever?” I don’t believe I ever have. I don’t believe I ever have. I don’t believe I ever will. I’m gonna do the best I can to level with the American people.

However, as reported by the Real Clear Politics news portal on Oct. 22, 2015, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) produced evidence during a House hearing on the Benghazi Attack of Sept. 11, 2012, that Mrs. Clinton was purposefully less than truthful of the American people. As the Buckeye congressman cited, Clinton notified both the Egyptian Prime Minister as well as members of her own family that the assault was in fact, a terrorist attack.

In the meantime, Clinton made a point of stating in public that the violence was due to a internet video, “Innocence of Muslims”. As RealClearPolitics.com cited Rep. Jordan during the House Hearings;

Here’s what you said at 11:00 that night, approximately one hour after you told the American people it was a video, you say to your family, “Two officers were killed today in Benghazi by an Al Qaeda- like group.”

You tell — you tell the American people one thing, you tell your family an entirely different story.

Also on the night of the attack, you had a call with the president of Libya. Here’s what you said to him. “Ansar al-Sharia is claiming responsibility.”

It’s interesting; Mr. Khattala, one of the guys arrested in charge actually belonged to that group. And finally, most significantly, the next day, within 24 hours, you had a conversation with the Egyptian prime minister.

You told him this, “We know the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film. It was a planned attack, not a protest.”

Let me read that one more time. “We know,” not we think, not it might be, “we know the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film. It was a planned attack, not a protest.”

State Department experts knew the truth. You knew the truth. But that’s not what the American people got. And again, the American people want to know why.

Why didn’t you tell the American people exactly what you told the Egyptian prime minister?

Chuck Ross of The Daily Caller reported on Dec. 31, 2015, that “Hillary Clinton is denying once again that she told family members of Benghazi attack victims that a video was to blame for the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks…” As Ross noted, “At least four Benghazi victims’ family members have said that Clinton talked about the importance of the video — which was produced by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula — during the Sept. 14, 2012 memorial service.”

Very well summing up what all the surviving family members claimed, Ross quoted Charles Woods, the father of slain former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, claims that Clinton vowed she was going to have Nakoula arrested. “We are going to have the filmmaker arrested who was responsible for the death of your son,” Woods told The Weekly Standard in October, reading from notes he took following his conversation with Clinton.

“I remember those words: ‘who was responsible for the death of your son.’ She was blaming him and blaming the movie,” he added. Nakoula was arrested in late Sept. 2012 for probation violations.
