China has manipulated its currency, stolen our intellectual property, spied on American citizens, imposed high tariffs on American goods, and even harmed their own immigrants here in America. In addition, they have consistently threatened other nations, many of whom are our allies, demanding their way in international actions. For President Trump to impose a 125% tariff on China is actually being nice. But is there a hidden Trump agenda? Maybe.
UPDATE: Trump reportedly has moved his tariff on China to 145% as of April 10.
125% tariff on China
China has repeatedly threatened to take over Taiwan. What will happen if their ragged economy falters? Trump has in the past worked hard to stomp on Iran’s ability to gain a nuclear weapon. What if he is working hard to damage China’s ability to invade Taiwan with his 125% tariff? What if it slides higher after China’s refusal to cooperate?

“As tensions between the U.S. and China reach a boiling point, some defense experts warn that Beijing may be preparing for an invasion of Taiwan within the next six months — with others citing 2027 — using aggressive “grey zone” warfare tactics disguised as military exercises…
China’s recent military drills around Taiwan — marked by missile launches, cyber disruptions, and naval blockades — aren’t mere exercises but dress rehearsals for an invasion, according to U.S. Indo-Pacific Commander Admiral Samuel Paparo. Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Chuck DeVore outlines three potential invasion scenarios: a suffocating naval blockade, a lightning strike on Taiwan’s infrastructure, or a “doomsday” multi-front assault on U.S. bases and the American homeland.
Leaked intelligence suggests China has even tested prefabricated barges that could rapidly deploy troops onto Taiwan’s shores, circumventing natural defenses. “This equipment is a bridge and a port combined into one,” warned Chinese state media commentator Wei Dongxu, signaling Beijing’s readiness for a swift, decisive invasion.” Newstarget.
Meanwhile, back at the Chinese influence over the Panama Canal, the US has brokered a memorandum of understanding that seeks to delete their influence and restore American dominance over the channel. The promise is that US ships will traverse the canal “first and free.” Which likely will chaff at the Communist Chinese, who already began building ports on both ends of the canal. Not today, China.
Their economy may take a serious hit with Trump’s 125% tariff on China and could go even higher if they continue to refuse to cooperate. The US buys everything from textiles to pharmaceutical ingredients from them, which causes major difficulties with supply chains. They refuse most of our goods. Having all of those items and more made in America would greatly alleviate our trade deficits and bring jobs into our economy. None of that counts their penchant to send illicit drug ingredients (i.e. Fentanyl) into Mexico for export into America. China is not our friend. And the potential for pulling their economic dragon-teeth is high with Trump’s tariffs.
