Happy 244th Birthday, US Marine Corps!
It’s a birthday party like no other and always includes cake cutting with a sword …an art in the Marine Corps. For Marines, marksmanship makes it too late to run. Fighting…they’re not called “Devil Dogs” for nothin’. November 10, 2019 is the 244th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. They were born to fight. What do you expect when their “birthplace” was a tavern?
Good morning! It was #OnthisDay, Nov 10, 1775, in Philadelphia stood the Tun Tavern, the traditional birthplace of the United States Marine Corps authorized by a resolution of the Continental Congress. Happy Birthday USMC! Semper Fidelis! pic.twitter.com/Z0o6gQf1lM

They have legends too: Presley O’Bannon, Chesty Puller, John Basilone, Kyle Carpenter, and everyone in between, decorated Marines are part of their history – a history of sacrifice.
You may be cool, but you’ll never be as cool as Chesty Puller cutting cake with a sword on the Marine Corps Birthday..Happy Birthday Marines! #USMC #MarineCorpsBirthday pic.twitter.com/lIGIYIt31s

Lt General Lewis B. ‘Chesty’ Puller was one of the most decorated Marines in history. Yes, he had that art of cake cutting with a sword down pat. But when he was fighting, stay out of his way.
Today, we celebrate our heritage and honor the sacrifices of those who fought before us. pic.twitter.com/1obXlWTZqL

Happy Birthday United States Marine Corps!
Founded in 1775, the @USMC shares its legacy with that of the #USA. Intrinsically bound, the #Marines have fought battles throughout time to defend our #constitution, protect our people, and to stabilize the world in times of #crisis. pic.twitter.com/BRqC3sIr8V— MCBQuantico (@MCB_Quantico) November 10, 2019
Semper Fi – always faithful. It’s a motto that Marines are called to live by. For some who have fought side by side with USMC warriors in battle, there will always be a bond.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
On June 10th 2006 we were in a fight for our lives in Afghanistan. We were minutes away from being overrun.
Then US Marines showed up with the Afghan National Army.
Happy birthday to my Marine Corps brothers & sisters!
It was an honor to stand by you in combat!

The birthday wishes even came from other nations who have fought beside our own:
Tomorrow we pause to remember the sacrifice of our forebears. We also remember the birthday of the United States Marine Corps @USMC with whom we have often shared those sacrifices. Happy 244th Birthday, Leathernecks! @BritishArmyUSA @USAinUK pic.twitter.com/bvy7Vlr3HE

Marine Corps Cadence:
On the 8th day, God created Marines to protect our beloved nation. The Devil groaned and said, “Oh sh*t.” Happy 244th Birthday to Our Nation’s Beloved United States Marine Corps
