On July 4, at the Rally for Freedom in DC, Gold Star Mom Amanda Jacobs swung hard at Colin Kaepernick for his protests of the National Anthem and flag. She did not know about the recent Nike controversy over the Betsy Ross Flag. But her powerful statement echoed across the National Mall to all patriots who love America.
Lance Cpl. Christopher Phoenix-Jacob Levy, died on Dec. 10, 2011, after suffering a mortal wound in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province. He was only 21 years old. He wanted to do something “bigger than himself” and joined the Marine Corps right out of high school. Graduating from Parris Island was a highlight of his life. He watched the Twin Towers fall when he just a mere 11 years old…and decided then and there that he wanted to be a Marine.
When I look at this country today and I tell people, and I’ve wanted to say this loud so many times: Colin Kaepernick was getting paid $14 million dollars a year to throw a ball. My son died for $14,000 a year and he’s given more than any football player, any athlete, has ever given…
That’s what we are here for today — not because, you know, I wanted to be a Gold Star mom. I got gold stars in school for making grades. But this Gold Star that I wear every day isn’t for me. It’s because of what my son chose to do — without my permission, trust me. I have a 17-year-old that is doing the same thing, and it’s because of what they believe.
I hear these Marines that come to my house — and they stay for four days, you know I’ve got 30 Marines that sleep on my floor, and it’s great — but they tell us that the only thing that kept them going is when they could look up and see that flag. They had hope to go back home to, and a hope that this country was going to change for the better — not for the worse...

Cowardice
The flap over Nike pulling the shoe with the Betsy Ross flag on it because Kaepernick said it was “racist” is pure stupidity. As long as that company and others kowtow to leftist whining, our way of life is endangered. From shoes to rifles to the American flag we fly today, the attacks are designed to disarm and destroy America. Nike’s cowardice and Kaepernick’s hate are but examples of the push toward more division. And Gold Star Mom Amanda Jacobs is correct: her son gave more than any ball player, celebrity, or social justice warrior ever will.
