Gas prices could spell November bloodbath for Dems, say Republicans

The American economy revolves around the price of a gallon of gasoline, and right now, Republicans are looking ahead to November and predicting that fuel prices could result in a political bloodbath for Democrats, Fox News is reporting.

On Tuesday, Fox News led a story with this: “President Biden and congressional Democrats who have championed green energy policies while calling to shift away from domestic oil drilling are facing an uphill battle ahead of the midterm elections, as gas prices continue to climb from near-record highs following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”

The news agency revealed the most expensive states in which to buy gasoline. By no surprise, they are all “blue” states.

“As of Tuesday,” Fox News reported, “the Democratic-led states of Washington, Nevada, Oregon, Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York have the highest gas prices in the country, led by California with an average of $5.44 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, according to GasBuddy.”

New York Democrat Sen. Charles E. Schumer, trying to shift blame for skyrocketing energy prices away fron his party and President Joe Biden, declared, “The bottom line is this: The real problem with increased gas prices is gouging and monopolies.”

Some of Schumer’s Democrat colleagues, identified as Sens. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire and Mark Kelly of Arizona, “are facing tough reelection races in their states (and) have called for temporarily eliminating the federal gas tax. They introduced a bill last month that would scrap the 18.4 cents-per-gallon federal tax through the rest of 2022,” Fox reported.

But Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana remarked, “I will note that people promoting this tend to be Democrats who are up for reelection, looking for a way to offset the fact that they have been opposing development of America’s traditional fuels…Instead, now that we’ve got a spike in prices, they’re looking for political cover, if you will. Another excuse not to do what is politically inconvenient.”

Democrats, who have rolled over for the Green agenda, will be scrambling between now and November, praying for some turnaround that probably isn’t coming.

According to GasBuddy.com, on Jan. 4, 2021—16 days before Joe Biden took office—the lowest average gas price was $2.253 a gallon. On Tuesday, the highest average was $4.17 a gallon. That’s just short of $2 more a gallon and it translates to a big hole in average household budgets.

Biden critics say he declared war on U.S. energy independence the day he took office by cancelling the Keystone pipeline project and taking other actions cutting off exploration on public lands.

The Alexander City Outlook reported, “Gas prices at the pump, and all costs impacted by gasoline prices, will continue to rise as the Biden administration continues to restrict U.S. domestic oil production, analysts say, and expands (sic) reliance on foreign production, which is greatly impacted by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.”
