Flag-burning, Soviet national anthem and other ideas the NFL can use to destroy itself

It seems the National Football League has decided to take the fast train to oblivion by adopting liberal talking points.  As we and others have reported, over 200 players have either disrespected the national anthem by taking a knee or have hidden out in their locker rooms so as not to hear the Star-Spangled Banner.  Naturally, all of this has caused many fans to be quite upset, with some going so far as to burn their NFL gear.

So we’d like to offer the NFL a few ideas to help it succeed in its effort to completely destroy itself.  These ideas won’t sit well with patriotic, red-blooded Americans, but liberal Antifa and Black Lives Matter types will probably love them.

  • Instead of ceremonies honoring the U.S. flag, why not conduct flag-burning rituals?
  • Instead of playing the Star-Spangled Banner, play something leftists can really identify with — like the national anthem of the former Soviet Union:

Here’s more ideas:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Instead of those flashy, often-patriotic half-time shows, invite members of the local Antifa groups to lead chants of “f- Trump,” or “Death to America” or whatever else it is they chant.

How about tributes to brutal Communist dictators like Kim Jong Un, since liberals seem to love the guy and are now siding with him over Donald Trump.

Maybe the NFL can invite rappers like Lil Wayne to perform while stomping on the U.S. flag.  It wouldn’t be the first time he’s done it and liberals would eat it up.  Sure, he said that he never intended to do it, but it still sparked a huge controversy.

Hold a Trump piñata-bashing party at halftime so liberals can entertain themselves by beating the president in effigy.  Sure, it might cause a security threat like it did in Colorado earlier this year, but liberals would no doubt have a lot of fun.

The protests have so far had mixed results on the NFL’s ratings.  According to Deadline Hollywood:

In metered market numbers, the primetime matchup that saw the Washington Redskins beat the Oakland Raiders 27-10  snared an 11.6/20, the worst SNF has performed this season so far. It’s an 8% dip from the early numbers of last week’s game, Atlanta’s 34-23 win over Green Bay. Amid cheers and boos from fans at FedEx Field in Maryland last night, the third week of the SNF  season declined 10% from early numbers of the comparable game of last year on September 25, 2016.

Sunday’s SNF peaked with a 12.r5/20 during the second quarter from 9-9:30 PM ET. Still, NFL ratings are down double-digits this season so far after taking a similar tackle-for-loss last year. Add to that, Sunday’s game was the worst a Week 3 SNF has done in 11-years.

These SNF numbers come on top of a tense Sunday that saw games across the nation under a new spotlight: how would teams respond to Trump’s blasts of Friday at a speech in Alabama and on social media. Started by currently unemployed quarterback and then San Francisco 49er Colin Kaepernick more than a year ago, several NFL players have been publicly protesting police brutality and racial injustice by not standing for the national anthem

But, Forbes said, the actual ratings were somewhat mixed:

Amid calls from President Trump for football fans to boycott the NFL due to players’ protests during the national anthem, and a fierce backlash to the president’s criticism from players, coaches and owners, Sunday’s games logged varied ratings.

The Redskins-Raiders matchup on NBC’s Sunday Night Football averaged an 11.6 Nielsen rating, down 11% from last year’s week three numbers. Fox’s afternoon game scored a 10.3 rating, down 16% year over year. But earlier in the day, CBS’ doubleheader saw a ratings increase of 4% over last year, with the first game garnering an 11% ratings uptick and the latter only seeing a 1% decline from last year.

Not to worry, though.  If the NFL adopts any of our ideas, its ratings are sure to drop significantly, perhaps within just a couple weeks.
