New York City’s law allowed noncitizens to vote in local elections and was ruled unconstitutional per the NY State Constitution in 2022. Dems didn’t like the ruling so they appealed it. Now the NY State Appeals Court, the state’s highest court put the final nail in its coffin. The law went into effect in early 2022. The US Constitution forbids noncitizens to vote in national elections so why should they vote in local elections? The left’s ability to stay in power just took a huge smackdown.

“The New York Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court, on Thursday struck down New York City’s law that granted some noncitizens the right to vote in municipal elections, ruling the Constitution limits voting to citizens.
It is “a condition of voter eligibility: the franchise extends only to citizens whose right to vote is established by proper proofs and who vote by ballot,” the opinion said.
In January 2022, New York became the first big city in the country to grant rights to some noncitizens to vote for Mayor, Public Advocate, Comptroller, Borough President and City Council Member.” ABC7

Actually, Mr. Sliwa, noncitizens should not be allowed to vote unless they become citizens of our nation. And voter ID is imperative. Period. Today’s ruling is a tiny bit of sanity.
