Fearing a Las Vegas Style Attack on the Celebrity MLB All Star Game, Denver Police Arrest Four

Today, July 11, is the day of the Celebrity MLB All Star Game in Denver, Colorado. Above the game venue, is the Maven Hotel, and rooms on the 4th and 8th floors have unobstructed views of Coors Field. On Friday, a maid reported that she came upon several firearms laid out in rooms and alerted the hotel. Fearing a Las Vegas style attack, police obtained a search warrant and entered the rooms. They made 4 arrests: 3 males, one woman. Police found 16 firearms, body armor, and 1,000 rounds of ammo.

The Celebrity MLB game is to be played on July 11, and the regular MLB all star game is set for Tuesday, July 13.

Based on the information provided by the hotel employee, police executed a search warrant and found the guns, ammo, body armor and a man inside the room on the eighth floor.

One of the suspects arrested Friday night had posted a message on Facebook referencing a recent divorce and saying he was going to “go out in a big way,” according to the multiple law enforcement sources.

SWAT teams responded to the Maven Hotel and Wazee Street was closed to the public as investigators combed the scene. One witness saw a car being loaded on a flatbed. Other witnesses said Denver Chief of Police Paul Pazen was one of the law enforcement officials investigating the scene at the hotel.

The intent of these people is unknown at this time. But it appears that from their criminal backgrounds, it wasn’t a good one – the Celebrity MLB game or the other regular game very well could have been in jeopardy.
