DOJ lifts gag order: Authorizes FBI informant to speak to Congress on Uranium One, Russia bribery case

On Wednesday, Fox News reported that the Department of Justice has lifted the gag order on a former FBI informant reportedly involved in a high-profile Russia bribery case.  The move, Fox said, allows “the individual to speak to Congress about Moscow’s Obama-era uranium deals in the U.S. market and other schemes.”

According to Fox:

In a statement, the department said it had authorized the informant to speak to the leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee, House Oversight Committee, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, in addition to select staffers.

The department said the informant could provide “any information or documents he has concerning alleged corruption or bribery involving transactions in the uranium market,” including Russian company Rosatom, subsidiary Tenex, Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Uranium One refers to the name of a Canada-based company with mines in the U.S. that was bought by Rosatom, a company backed by the Russian state. The State Department, then led by Hillary Clinton, was one of nine U.S. government agencies that had to approve the deal back in 2010.

On Monday, Victoria Toensing, the informant’s attorney, told Fox Business Network that her client can “tell what all the Russians were talking about during the time that all these bribery payments were made.”

“All of the information about this corruption has not come out,” she said during an interview on Tuesday, The Hill reported. “And so my client, the same part of my client that made him go into the FBI in the first place, says, ‘This is wrong. What should I do about it?’”

Toensing also claimed she has memos that detail how the Justice Department threatened her client last year when he attempted to file a lawsuit that could have drawn attention to the Russian corruption during the 2016 presidential race as well as helped him recover some of the money Russians stole from him through kickbacks during the FBI probe, The Hill added.

The undercover client witnessed “a lot of bribery going on around the U.S.” but was asked by the FBI to sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) that prevents him from revealing what he knows to Congress, Toensing explained.

Worse yet, she said that “the Obama Justice Department threatened him with loss of freedom. They said they would bring a criminal case against him for violating an NDA” when he tried to bring some of those allegations to light in the lawsuit.

Among those calling for that order to be lifted was Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

“The Executive Branch does not have the authority to use non-disclosure agreements to avoid Congressional scrutiny.  If the FBI is allowed to contract itself out of Congressional oversight, it would seriously undermine our Constitutional system of checks and balances.  The Justice Department needs to work with the Committee to ensure that witnesses are free to speak without fear, intimidation or retaliation from law enforcement. Witnesses who want to talk to Congress should not be gagged and threatened with prosecution for talking. If that has happened, senior DOJ leadership needs to fix it and release the witness from the gag order,” he said earlier this month.

Grassley’s statement added:

According to recent news reports, a U.S. businessman-turned-confidential informant documented bribes, extortion and money laundering by Russian entities that were attempting to secure U.S. government approval of a deal to acquire Uranium One, which reportedly owned 20 percent of American uranium assets at the time.  According to the news reports, the informant has information regarding payments made by Russian executives to a U.S. entity that supported President Bill Clinton’s foundation.  In 2010, despite an ongoing criminal investigation into officials working for Rosatom subsidiaries, the Obama Administration approved the takeover of Uranium One.

Last week, Grassley asked several federal agencies involved in approving the deal whether they had any knowledge of the ongoing criminal investigation and all communications relating to donations made to the Clinton Foundation by interested parties in the transaction. Those agencies include the Justice Department and State Department.

Perhaps now we can learn the truth about who really colluded with the Russians.

Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh noted Wednesday, the entire government machine in Washington, D.C., has been turned inside-out over a false “controversy” generated by a fake dossier alleging collusion between Donald Trump and the Russians:

Folks, I have not convinced myself yet that I have really made the impact that this needs because of what happened after this. This is a totally, totally, totally manufactured however number of pages this is. I forget. It’s either 36 or 39 or 16. It contains the golden shower story. The fact that this was literally written as fiction! Look at what has happened. Look at how it has been used. All you really need to know is that the director of the CIA, an Obama appointee, John Brennan — who is a classic, extreme, community organizing-type leftist — proudly, happily told everybody that this dossier was so crucial, so important that he used it as the basis of the investigation.

Folks, that means there has never been any evidence of Trump colluding with Russia. Now, balance that fact with everything that’s happened in the past year in the news media! This dwarfs Watergate in ways that I can’t even categorize. This has so many players involved who knew that this was phony. But for the highest investigatory intelligence agency in the world to knowingly accept pure fiction and use it politically? See, it doesn’t surprise me. This is who Obama is! This is right out of Saul Alinsky and Rules for Radicals.

This is exactly how community organizing works. You populate these places with your fellow extremist radicals, and you turn ’em loose — and everything they touch ends up being corrupted. The CIA? The FBI? This story… I guarantee you, Jim Kallstrom, who ran the New York office of the FBI for years, this is gonna… It’s gonna combine to devastate him and infuriate him like you can’t believe. The FBI is sacred to people who have devoted their lives to it, it’s sacred in its mission, and to have this? This is not just a mistake. This is not somebody getting fooled.

As we and many others reported earlier, the so-called Trump dossier was bought and paid for by the Clinton campaign and the DNC.  It seems that the truth is finally starting to emerge.
