Democrats are becoming increasingly worried they will suffer a political massacre in November, but according to Fox News, they are considering scare tactics to bring out the voter base, since running on the economy or Joe Biden’s record isn’t likely to work.
Fox was referring to comments by MSNBC analyst Jon Heilemann on “Deadline: White House” Tuesday. He suggested the “key to mitigating” political losses is to make former President Donald Trump “the face of the Republican Party.”
“They have to scare the crap out of [the Democratic base] and get them to come out,” Heilemann said, according to the Fox News report.
If fear is all Democrats have in their strategy toolbox, they could be in lots of trouble heading into the mid-terms.

With Biden still doing poorly in Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking poll shows the Delaware Democrat with only 24 percent of likely voters who “strongly approve” of his job performance, while 46 percent “strongly disapprove,” which is better than he was doing last month, but still leaves him with a Presidential Approval Index rating of Minus-22. He had skidded all the way to -30 last month.
There is more bad news from Rasmussen. The polling firm said 62 percent of likely voters “believe the economy has gotten worse since Biden became president, which is more than three times the 19% who think the economy has gotten better under Biden. Another 16% say the economy has stayed about the same.”
The dismal data includes independent voters.
“Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 67% believe the economy has gotten worse since Biden became president, 15% think it’s gotten better and 13% say the economy has stayed about the same,” Rasmussen said.
As reported by Fox News, Heilemann says Democrats can’t motivate their voters “on the basis of hope or their pocketbooks,” so “They have to scare the crap out of them.”
Part of the strategy will be to demonize Republicans by focusing on conservatives such as Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and Madison Cawthorn. This amounts to a strategy of desperation, with Democrats possibly hoping to mitigate losses or even hold the House.
