Democrats Lose BIG In 2021 Elections – Here’s The 411
If this is any indication of what the Dems have coming in next year’s midterms, they’re in deep yogurt.
The ‘Bellweather’ election n Virginia was supposed to be McAuliffe’s to lose. After all, he had the job before in a deep blue state.
If Virginia is a state that Biden won by 10 points, what accounts for last night’s result? How is it possible that Republicans didn’t just defeat him, but they ran the table in Statewide elections in a reliably blue state?
For that matter, what about the results in New Jersey and Minnesota?
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
New Jersey was another incumbent Democrat Governor. For most of the night, the Republican challenger held the lead, until the larger population centers tightened the race enough so that it was too close to call.
And possibly the biggest kick in the teeth for the hard left was the very personal message sent to them by the voters in Minneapolis … ground zero of the George Floyd incident.
Let’s recap those results.
The Commonwealth Of Virginia
Youngkin fish slapped McAuliffe in a race where Youngkin was never supposed to have a prayer.
Voters showed up in droves.

While it will be narrower win, it's a massive swing from 2020 — Youngkin overperforming Trump across board

But Republicans won downballot, too. Don’t expect to hear much about these victories on CNN or MSNBC. They undercut their ‘racist dog whistle narrative.
Republican Winsome Sears will be Virginia’s next lieutenant governor, making history as the first black woman to hold the office and the highest-ranking woman of color to be elected to office in Virginia.
Sears is an immigrant, a veteran, and a trailblazer. Born in Jamaica, she immigrated to the United States with her father when he had only $1.75 in his pocket and grew up in the Bronx, New York. She joined the Marines, where she was an electrician. — WashintonExaminer
Business Insider declared Jason Miyares the winner of the race for AG, which they tell us, would make him Virginia’s first Latino AG.
Miyares has served as a Republican member of Virginia’s House of Delegates, which encompasses part of Virginia Beach, since 2016. He was the first Cuban American elected to the General Assembly, and has often highlighted his Cuban background on the campaign trail by telling the story of his mother’s immigration to the US in 1965. He makes history as the state’s first Latino attorney general.
New Jersey
Officially, it’s still too close to call.
In the New Jersey governor’s race, incumbent Gov. Murphy was trying to become the first Democrat reelected to the office in 44 years. But Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli posted a surprisingly strong showing, campaigning on issues including taxes and opposition to pandemic mask and vaccination mandates. The race was too early to call with votes still being tallied.– MRT
Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court Gains A Republican
Republicans in Pennsylvania saw success in voters’ choices Tuesday to fill open seats on statewide appeals courts, including winning a marquee race for a seat on the state Supreme Court that nevertheless will not change the Democrats’ majority on the state’s high court. –DelcoTimes
Minneapolis’s ‘Defund The Police’ Vote
Minneapolis voters on Tuesday rejected a proposal to replace the Minneapolis Police Department, crushing the hopes of supporters that outrage over the killing of George Floyd would lead to a historic experiment in transforming public safety.
…Voters opposed the amendment by a 12-point margin, well short of the 51% needed to pass. The failure of the ballot question came as one of its most outspoken opponents, Mayor Jacob Frey, held a commanding lead in his re-election bid.
Voters also approved a separate charter amendment that shifted more power from the City Council to the mayor, and were poised to oust several council members who led the push to replace the police department.
Wynn Wever, who voted at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Longfellow, said the policing question was the only part of the ballot he filled out. He voted no.
“I like the police. We need the police,” said Wever, 79, a retired roofer. —StarTribune
If the Squad is too thick to hear the message that is being sent to them, voters sent an even MORE direct one in a New York Mayoral race.
No, not the one in NYC. Think Buffalo.
In Buffalo, incumbent Mayor Byron Brown, who lost the Democratic primary to Democratic Socialist India Walton, ran a write-in campaign against Walton. A poll last week by CBS Buffalo affiliate WIVB had Brown leading by 17 points, and he appeared to be leading by 10,000 votes as of Tuesday night, according to WIVB.– CBSNews
It’s a message so loud even the Democrats could hear it.
What lessons will they take from these losses? If their initial reactions are any indications… all the wrong ones.
That by itself could make for very interesting Midterm elections next year.
