Democratic Socialists on College Campuses: 280% Increase

While it’s not surprising, given the ridiculous left wing garbage being spewed across campuses nationwide, the Young Democratic Socialists have spread quickly across the College landscape. The Daily Caller reported that there has been a 280% increase in the number of YDS clubs since 2016.

According to their article,

Democratic National Chairman Tom Perez recently called Democratic Socialist congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez the “future of the party.” Perez’s prediction may be correct as the number of a Democratic Socialist clubs on college campuses has skyrocketed since 2016.

Democratic Socialism has become a popular interest for Democrats after Ocasio-Cortez upset current New York Rep. Joe Crowley. Crowley was one of the favorite candidates to succeed Nancy Pelosi as the leader of the House Democrats.

Young people view socialism as more attractive than older people. Of people ages 18-29, 55 percent considered socialism favorably compared to other age groups, according to a 2016 Gallup poll. Only 37 percent of people between the ages 30 and 49 viewed socialism as positive. 27% percent of people between 50 and 64 years old thought of socialism positively.

So why do they think socialism is more attractive? First, because they’ve been deeply indoctrinated against America. They view Capitalism as evil, and Socialism as the savior of all inequality. Secondly, they’ve had little access to historical facts presented by someone other than another Marxist. If you don’t know the history of what socialism has produced, you might think all that Utopia stuff is awesome.

According to the YSD website,

“Over the past year, Young Democratic Socialists growth unprecedented in our history. In one year, YDS went from just 15 chapters of YDS to almost 50 chapters across 27 states. This incredible expansion shows not only the demand for democratic socialist ideas on campuses and schools across the country but the desire of students across the country for the power to fight back against Trump…”

“…Though this plan is ambitious, we are confident that these goals are entirely achievable given the current situation. With the rise of the right wing and the failure of the neoliberal wing of the Democratic Party to defend and mobilize working people against Trump, students are looking to get organized and fight for their future. YDS is the place for them!”

They want medicare for all, strong unions (yet the unions may be open to  endorsing Trump because of the jobs), and “electoral power” – in other words they want to do away with the Electoral college. They want to build “justice” across America. They are meeting this weekend to revise their “constitution.”  And they want to bash Trump.
