Democrat Political Guru Sentenced To Prison Over Foreign Campaign Contributions

Ravneet Singh, a “self-styled” Democrat political guru, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison by a federal judge after helping Mexican millionaire developer Jose Susumo Azano Matsura of Guadalajara, Mexico make hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal campaign contributions to Bob Filner, the Democrat candidate for mayor of San Diego.

The San Diego Union Tribune reported:

Singh, 45, failed as a candidate himself early on but built a successful career aiding other people’s campaigns, from smalltown U.S. politicians to international heads of state, using his skills in social media, the Internet and technology to reach voters.

But prosecutors say the self-styled “campaign guru” used his expertise to thwart campaign finance laws, helping Mexican tycoon José Susumo Azano Matsura illegally inject about $500,000 into the 2012 San Diego mayoral election.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The illegal money was used to buy influence with Filner that would have allowed Matsura to build condos and a high-end hotel in the city.  It is a classical Democrat pay-for-play scheme.  Many say Filner was not aware of the illicit campaign contributions.  However, how would you gain political influence if the target is not aware of the illicit contributions.

Filner did win the election as mayor of San Diego, but stepped down just nine months later in a sleazy sexual harassment scandal.  Nineteen women accused him of sexual assault or sexual harassment.  He was tried for three of those women, convicted and sentenced to 90 days home confinement and three years of probation.

According to CNN:

Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner was sentenced Monday to 90 days in home confinement, three years’ probation, and a series of fines totaling about $1,500 for assaulting three women while in office.

The 71-year-old pleaded guilty in October to forcibly kissing or grabbing three women at campaign events or at City Hall — one a felony false imprisonment charge, the other two misdemeanor battery charges. Filner entered the guilty plea under a deal with prosecutors.

The three women were among 19 who accused him of offensive behavior during his tenure as mayor and as a congressman.

Filner will not serve prison time under the plea deal.

I guess Singh did not get much bang for his buck.  I wonder if he demanded a refund.  Prying ill-gotten gains from the hands of Democrat politicians is not an easy thing to do.

Why the mainstream media won’t cover it enough

The mainstream media often salivates over stories of corruption involving Republicans, but yawns when the very same thing happens to Democrats. Witness the conviction of a Democratic California lawmaker in 2014 for illegally trafficking in guns and shoulder fired automatic weapons and missiles, with incredibly salacious details that should have been fodder for dozens of stories. But it got very little play in the mainstream media because Leland Yee was a Democrat.

We will likely see the same pattern here – while the media obsesses over every detail that could possibly lead to proving Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, they have very little interest in a Mexican billionaire who appears to be successful in influencing the mayoral election in San Diego.

It’s funny how much time the lamestream press will spend on the ridiculous Trump dossier and Trump’s collusion with Russia, that not even one piece or shred of evidence can be found, but can’t find time to do even a short article on page 31 about a real life scandal, where people are convicted and thrown into prison for their crimes.
