Democrat Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker issued the usual ‘Stay at home’ order that includes the shutdown of businesses amid the COVID-19 outbreak, but exempted gun stores as “essential businesses” for security and safety of the people. The stance blew the minds of everyone from gun-rights advocates to anti-gun Democrats.
The Democrat Illinois governor issued his Executive order to go into effect at 5 p.m. on March 21. Businesses labelled as essential could continue operating, businesses labelled as non-essential were supposed to close.
“When an anti-gun Democrat Governor declares that essential businesses includes firearm and ammunition suppliers and retailers for purposes of safety and security, that is really a big deal. Every Governor should copy the Illinois example when issuing stay in place and business closure orders in the face of the Corona Virus.” Alan Gottlieb, Second Amendment Foundation (Breitbart)
Of late, we’ve been writing about states like California, Colorado, and others who have labelled gun stores as “non-essential.” Police have even been dispatched to force their closure. Now, we have the Democrat Illinois Governor doing just the opposite, making the gun industry important enough to be listed as essential.
Pritzker’s Stay at Home Executive Order reads, in part:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Supplies for Essential Businesses and Operations. Businesses that sell, manufacture, or supply other Essential Businesses and Operations with the support or materials necessary to operate, including computers, audio and video
electronics, household appliances; IT and telecommunication equipment; hardware, paint, flat glass; electrical, plumbing and heating material; sanitary equipment; personal hygiene products; food, food additives, ingredients and
components; medical and orthopedic equipment; optics and photography equipment; diagnostics, food and beverages, chemicals, soaps and detergent; and firearm and ammunition suppliers and retailers for purposes of safety and security;
So will backlash cause the Democrat Illinois Governor to amend his EO? We hope not. Gun suppliers truly are essential, especially in a time of crisis, as people are in need of a way to protect themselves in case idiots try to steal what they have in their homes.
