New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told the Orthodox Jewish community that if they didn’t comply with his COVID rules, he would close their synagogues. Even NYC Mayor de Blasio has made similar dictatorial statements before.
Threats to Orthodox Jewish community
The Hill reported,
Cuomo also appeared on Monday to threaten the closure of religious services in the city that do not conform to COVID-19 restrictions.
“We know that religious institutions have been a problem,” he said. “We know mass gatherings are the super-spreader events. We know that there have been mass gatherings going on in concert with religious institutions … in these communities for weeks.”
“I don’t mean little violations … I’m talking about, you’re only supposed to have 50 outdoors, they had 1,000,” Cuomo added. “They have to agree that they’re going to follow the rules. And they have to agree that they’re going to be full partner in enforcing the rules. … If you do not agree to enforce the rules, then we’ll close the institutions down. I am prepared to do that.”

Cuomo said he planned to meet with Orthodox leaders on Tuesday to get their “cooperation,” according to the Jerusalem Post.
Cuomo and de Blasio, even though they hate each other, have promoted closing religious institutions since the beginning of the pandemic. They have consistently ignored the Constitution in favor of keeping their power intact. And they do it all in the name of a virus. Let that sink in.
In June, Mayor de Blasio had the entrances to parks in a Hadisic neighborhood welded shut. The excuse? Covid-19.
The continual plans to shutter businesses, and keep their thumb on churches and synagogues in New York is tantamount to a kind of hate the people of New York should wake up to. Those two yokels need to be voted out of power and quickly.
