This is a biggie. Yesterday’s court ruling would be a monumental setback for Obama. This would kill most of his executive orders.
A ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia could have a far reaching impact on the president’s Dream Act by executive order. The case was over the use of Yucca Mountain as a storage facility for used nuclear waste. President Obama has been stalling the construction and licensing of the facility. The judge ruled that the president cannot ignore laws passed by congress simply because he disagrees with the policy. That would effectively end his “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” order.
