In blowing off the subpoena, Hunter Biden has put his dad in a difficult position. Because the White House Spokes-Muppet admitted on the record that dad knew Hunter would be a no-show, Joe is a participant.
The Biden administration has already set the precedent of taking Contempt of Congress VERY seriously, criminally charging a couple of people with violations.
Of course, it’s a bad look if they go HARD after their political enemies and then suddenly stop caring about Contempt of Congress when the guy who’s doing it plays for the same team as the DOJ’s boss.
Now Biden’s DOJ has to decide which is the best path forward.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Option One: They can lock shields around Joe Biden — stonewalling Congressional action for as long as possible, hoping to run out the clock between now and November.
Option Two: They can enforce contempt charges, but orchestrate some kind of a plea deal with no serious charges or time served.
If they take option one, that opens up the Biden Impeachment inquiry to a whole other set of allegations — obstruction of justice. (This may or may not already be in play for other reasons.)
