CNN’s Symone Sanders: White people not allowed to criticize NFL kneeling

While appearing on Sunday’s edition of CNN Newsroom With Fredricka Whitfield, Symone Sanders said white people aren’t allowed to criticize NFL players who protest the flag by kneeling during the national anthem, the Daily Caller said.

“White people do not get to tell black folks or anybody else what is acceptable form of protest,” she told conservative pundit Ben Ferguson.

“Not everything’s about race, Symone. Not everything is about race,” Ferguson responded.

“Maybe not for you is it, but for folks who are protesting police…the issue of policy brutality is absolutely about race,” Sanders said.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Here’s a partial transcript as provided by the Daily Wire:

FERGUSON: As long as the NFL is consistently coming out there disrespecting this country, I expect the President of the United States of America to not attend an event where people are disrespecting the United States of America and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. I don’t care if you’re Republican or Democrat. …

You have a duty, an obligation as President of the United States of America to leave a situation where people are basically giving the middle finger to the men and women that have fought and protected this country.

SANDERS: No one’s giving the finger, that is false and you should be ashamed to be perpetuating this lie. There are veterans and folks who are saying that these players have a right. No, you don’t get to. Ben, white people do not get to tell blacks folks or anybody else what is an acceptable form of protest.

FERGUSON: Not everything’s about race, Symone.

SANDERS: Maybe not for you, it is. But for folks who are protesting police brutality, it absolutely is about race.

“On a lighter note, the look on host Fredricka Whitfield’s face during the exchange, as she tried several times to throw a towel into ring, was priceless,” the Independent Journal Review said.

As we reported Sunday, Vice President Mike Pence walked out of a Colts game after some two dozen San Francisco 49ers took a knee.

Many others across the country have expressed their anger at the NFL by boycotting the network, burning team gear and tickets.
