Civil War Movie: A “War Between the Government and its Citizens”

Art sometimes imitates life.

Hollywood often comes up with terrifying movies, but we all know they’re not real. They are movies, after all. But one new movie trailer has hit the platforms that brings goosebumps: the Civil War movie. It may likely be a leftist attempt to continue to paint Conservatives and Christians as monsters that will destroy “democracy.”  But it also may contain enough seeds of reality to bring opposing factions to the realization that if we do not change course, something extremely bad could very well happen.

The rebels in this movie are the “Florida Alliance” (southern states) and Western Forces (Texas and California Alliance), nineteen states in all that have seceded from the US. The biggest hitch is that California is so far left that they wouldn’t align with Texas if their lives depended on it. But it’s a movie, so they can do anything they want. Directed by British writer/ film maker Alex Garland, it’s being pegged as “dystopian” or an “American apocalypse.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“I tend not to spell things out in films. I sometimes feel overly spoon-fed by cinema, and so I probably just react against that. That question, why Texas and California, is a question that I want the audience to ask.” Alex Garland

People in those states go up against the Federal government and a Civil War ensues.  The kind with tanks and specialized guns, and all the trimmings. Someone will blow up the Lincoln Monument in DC in the Civil War movie. Many in the opposition of both sides will die. It follows journalist Kirsten Dunst as she makes her way across the war, interviewing people who are attempting to avoid the carnage going on around them.

According to most reviewers so far, the thrust of the movie is that journalists are important. Ok, Let’s call that REAL journalists are important to a free society. The biased fake ones, not so much.

Since all we have is the trailer for the Civil War movie, we don’t yet know the full story line, although since it’s Hollywood, we suspect it will make the good guys into the bad guys. It doesn’t appear to be a Sci-Fi movie, but more of a thriller genre. The Civil War movie is to be released by an Indie film company on April 12, 2024. The thing about this movie is…could it, will it happen for real?
