Challenge to Trump’s Border Wall Rejected at Supreme Court

The environmentalists who stoked up a challenge to Trump’s Border Wall really had no chance based on the law,  but they tried anyway to stop it. But on Monday, the Supreme Court refused to take the case. The challenge was dismissed at a lower court, which means that the lower court ruling stands.

The Supreme Court turned down the challenge with at least one liberal voting against taking the case. Their only real avenue now is the legislature to change the law.

The Daily Caller reported,

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“It’s disappointing that the Supreme Court won’t consider this important constitutional issue,” Brian Segee, a senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD), told The Daily Caller News Foundation by email. “Trump has abused his power to wreak havoc along the border to score political points. He’s illegally sweeping aside bedrock environmental and public health laws. We’ll continue to fight Trump’s dangerous wall in the courts and in Congress.”

A 1996 law authorized the attorney general (and later the Homeland Security secretary) to build border barriers to deter illegal immigration. In that connection, the law gave the Department of Homeland Security secretary power to exempt certain border projects from environmental laws like the Endangered Species Act, as well as other legal rules, to ensure quick construction.

“Dangerous wall”

The environmentalists charged that Trump was “illegally” trying to erect the border wall that would “wreak havoc” with the ecosystem along the US-Mexico border. Their main thrust (beside hating Trump) was the Ocelot and Jaguar that have a range that extends into the U.S. – both are critically endangered.

So let’s break this down: what’s more important- border security from criminals, terrorists and invasions…or the habitat of a beautiful creature? We have to vote for the wall. Because if we don’t survive, neither will they. Ever.

It is a fact that nature adapts to changes pretty well. Better than people, by the way.
