Gas stoves, dishwashers, clothes washers, dryers, ovens, refrigerators have been targeted so far by the Biden administration’s “war on appliances.” Now they are adding air conditioners. If you’re too hot in the summer, tough. They’re out to save the planet, never mind the cost to consumers at a time of high inflation… or the inconvenience.
“Today’s announcement builds on the historic actions President Biden took last year to strengthen outdated energy efficiency standards, which will help save on people’s energy bills and reduce our nation’s carbon footprint,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm
“Historic” as in deliberately raising the prices of necessary appliances? Granholm claimed the new regulations would save people money and make a better environment that “people deserve.” As soon as their wallets are totally empty, of course, and high summer temps kill a few people.
Chasing the elusive “lower carbon emissions”Â
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
“What these mandates, what these standards, do is enforce a level of efficiency that doesn’t make sense. And they compromise product quality. We’ve already seen this to an extent with cost of clothes washer standards.”
“That’s another problem — this is a regulatory program that’s very long in the tooth and you’re getting to the point where clothes washers — this might be the fifth time they’ve been regulated. So we’re really chasing after diminishing or nonexistent marginal returns.” Ben Lieberman of the Competitive Enterprise Institute to Fox News
The Biden administration’s war on appliances has left many “efficiency regulations” that not only make no sense, inevitably they raise the cost of any appliances for the consumer. In a time of high inflation and already skyrocketing prices, now they are targeting air conditioners.
Lower income people will be unable to buy them…which could leave people with sensitivity to heat in serious trouble. They’ve already sabotaged clothes dryers, gas stoves and the other appliances on their list of things that wreck the environment.
Fact: Industries like appliance manufacturers have worked hard to increase efficiency without government interference. The constant interference of government regulators destroys innovation and puts the cost of new appliances out of reach of the ordinary citizen.
