Joe Biden already has delivered to American people inflation higher than any other in decades, gasoline prices approaching $7 a gallon, a disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, a southern border crisis, an open war on conservatives and people of faith through his demands for abortion and transgender agendas.
What else can come?
How about a warning about Armageddon?
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Legacy news organization AP is reporting that Biden has declared the risk of nuclear Armageddon “is at the highest level” since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
That was when Russia installed missiles, which could be targeted at the U.S., in Cuba, only 90 miles off the American coast.
The dispute now is developing as “Russian officials speak of using tactical nuclear weapons after suffering massive setbacks in the eight-month invasion of Ukraine,” the report said.
Biden chose the occasion of a fundraiser for his far-left political party, the Democrats, to claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “a guy I know fairly well.”
And, Biden said, Putin is “not joking when he talks about the use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons.”
Biden, who is approaching the halfway point of his term in the Oval Office, following two earlier failed attempts in the race, said, “We have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis.”
He claimed the threat from Putin is real.
Russia is known to have vast stockpiles of nuclear weapons, and U.S. officials already have been warning for months of the danger that Putin would pull the nuclear trigger, and launch a weapon of mass destruction against Ukraine.
The report, however, said, “Biden’s remarks marked the starkest warnings yet by the U.S. government about the nuclear stakes.”
U.S. intelligence agencies have noted that there’s no evidence of such an attack developing imminently.
One official, in the report, spoke on condition of anonymity and said that Biden was speaking broadly about the administration’s concerns about Putin.
The Biden administration and White House, in fact, repeatedly have been forced to walk back Biden’s most egregious off-the-cuff statements, including his multiple promises to join war if Taiwan is attacked by China.
The report explained, “The president’s new remarks came after White House officials this week said they have seen no change to Russia’s nuclear forces that would require a change in the alert posture of U.S. nuclear forces.”
Karine Jean-Pierre, a White House spokeswoman, in fact, said this week, “We have not seen any reason to adjust our own strategic nuclear posture, nor do we have indication that Russia is preparing to imminently use nuclear weapons.”
Putin, obviously expecting a quick and decisive win, attacked Ukraine months ago, only to watch as his troops were torn up and shredded by Ukraine’s defense. In fact, Russian soldiers have lost significantly ground in recent days, and one commenter noted that captured Russian military equipment now is providing a substantial part of Ukraine’s defense.
Putin’s warning included, “I want to remind you that our country also has various means of destruction … and when the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, to protect Russia and our people, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal. It’s not a bluff.”
