The ATF Director Steve Dettelbach was asked in Congress to define an “assault weapon.” His answer was less than stunning, saying he’s not a “firearms expert.” We’ve watched court nominees be unable to respond to questions about the Bill of Rights. We’ve watched men be able to participate in Women’s Sports and when the legislature tries to change that, the current White House resident promises to veto it. We’ve seen totally ridiculous people who know nothing about their jobs flout their lack of skill and knowledge in emergencies: Pete Buttigieg (transportation) and Jennifer Granholm (energy) are cases in point. Now we have the Director of the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) tell Congress that he’s not a firearms expert. When what the h*** is he doing there?
He’s not an expert but he’ll eagerly propose regulation to be followed like law anyway https://t.co/38fTSRm5FX

We shouldn’t be surprised, given the track record of the Biden administration. Since they can’t define “woman” it’s not far from being unable to define an assault weapon. You know, like a rock, a knife, or any household item as examples of weapons that can be used to “assault” someone. The ATF Director was controversial to start with, after David Chipman had to withdraw from nomination for the position. Dettelbach wasn’t much less of a problem, but Democrats pushed him through because it’s what they do. They could care less about knowledge and simply hire for political reasons.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Twitter users had a lot to say about the ATF Director’s answer:
He can’t define it but he wants to ban it. “You’ll know it when you see it.” @entropy11
They (government agents) never never answer a direct question. It must be part of bureaucrat 101 training. @rob1098765
Shouldn’t the ATF director be something of a “firearms expert”?? @bluhawk7cubed
“Assault weapon” is a politically generated term which means what those opposing the 2A want it to mean. E.g., in California a 10 round .22 LR semiautomatic pistol was classed as a assault weapon due to threads at the end of the barrel. The threads were for weights. @flores_hm
And there’s this one that makes our case:
FAA nominee knows nothing about aviation, ATF nominee knows little about firearms, Secy of Trans knows nothing about transportation…seems to be a theme of Biden admin. @7greatdanes
Incompetence has consequences.
