Appeals Court Gives Good News To Former Twitter Troll Convicted For 2016 Hillary Meme (Video)
Earlier this week, the U.S. Second Court of Appeals gave Douglass Mackey, who used the alias “Ricky Vaughn” on social media, some very good news.
You may recall Mackey as the internet troll who posted political jokes and memes back in 2016 during those early, heady days of the MAGA Meme Lords.
He was charged in 2021 of “election interference” and convicted in March of “conspiracy against rights” for posting a meme that urged Hillary supporters to text their vote. It was a joke, but the Democrats didn’t find it very funny, apparently.

On Monday, Mackey got some good news from the Court of Appeals — he can stay out of jail … for now.
The United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday stayed the surrender date for Douglass Mackey, a pro-Trump memester convicted of election interference, pending the appeal of his conviction.
Mackey was convicted in March of this year for posting a meme in 2016 that encouraged supporters for then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to cast their vote by text. The offending image included a picture of a woman with a pro-Clinton sign and bore the message “Avoid the Line. Vote from Home. Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925[.] Vote for Hillary and be a part of history.”
He was sentenced to seven months in prison in October, though Monday’s ruling means he will remain free throughout the appeals process.

“IT HIS HEREBY ORDERED that Defendant-Appellant Douglass Mackey’s motion for release pending appeal is GRANTED,” reads the court’s order. “Mackey’s surrender date is stayed. The District Court is ordered to determine the appropriate terms of release, without prejudice to the government’s making a future request for detention.”
The court went further than simply releasing Mackey pending appeal, it has also ordered that the appeal itself be expedited. Mackey is to submit his initial brief by January 5, 2024, the government’s response is due by February 5, 2024, and Mackey’s rebuttal is due by February 20, 2024. The court has ordered the clerk to set an appeal date “as soon as practicable” after February 20.

Just to recap, Mackey was going to be jailed for 7 months for a joke — and it wasn’t even his own joke, it was a revamp of an old joke that he saw online. A very similar joke to the one that a Lib comedian still hasn’t been prosecuted for.
And he didn’t even know he’d done anything wrong in 2016 until January 2021 when eight or more law enforcement officers showed up at his door at 7 am to arrest him. He wasn’t told what the charges were until he arrived at a courthouse.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson last month, Mackey said, “I knew that politicians could be vindictive and the federal government sometime could be influenced by those politicians … and I know that they can sort of get very creative with the federal statutes, so if I was the enemy of their candidate, then I thought maybe they could cook something up.”
The Biden DOJ was making an example of him immediately after taking office while adamantly refusing to go after the 2020 “Summer of Love” BLM and Antifa rioters who caused massive damage, destruction, and even death.
Had Douglas Mackey burned down a building for BLM instead of posting memes he wouldn’t be facing seven months in prison
Complete insanity https://t.co/kHNOvUbheq

The conviction of Mackey is an indictment on the U.S. justice system and the blatant partisanship.
Douglas Mackey should have never gone to jail in the first place!

Contrast this conviction with the way that (Poison) Ivy League Presidents defended the anti-semitic genocidal chants on campus by the “pro-Palestinian” protesters. Those Presidents are now in panic-mode and are frantically backpedaling as donors are (correctly) yanking funding.
Meanwhile, the Machiavellian harpy who was the target of Mackey’s posts — and may have been the one to demand retribution for the mockery — is suggesting that this type of political prosecution that is currently happening would definitely, totally happen under a second Trump administration. What’s happening now is fine, but if it happens under Trump, then that’s a “threat to democracy!”
Oh, so Trump, the man facing indictments in multiple states by the administration of his political rival, who decided not to go after Hillary for her emails after saying she should be in jail and had tens of thousands of followers chanting “Lock Her Up” at rallies, is going to prosecute Lib sh-tposters for bad memes now?
Promises, promises.
Where would Trump’s DOJ find the time and resources to go after all of those people?
After all …
