After years of not giving a tinker’s damn and simply accepting whatever Democrats said about the January 6 Capitol riot, so-called “mainstream media” outlets are now demanding the more than 40,000 hours of video House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., made available to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
CBS News reported:
A group of media organizations, including CBS News, is demanding access to a tranche of surveillance and police videos from the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol that U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy provided to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
In a letter to congressional leadership Friday, the media companies argue the footage McCarthy allowed Carlson and Fox News to access should be made available to other media groups.
The letter was sent on behalf of CBS News, CNN, Politico, ProPublica ABC, Axios, Advance, Scripps, the Los Angeles Times, and Gannett.
Translation: We didn’t give a s**t before, but now that Tucker Carlson gets exclusive access, we want it too.
No doubt so they can continue gaslighting the American people.

Twitchy correctly observed:
If Carlson hadn’t gotten access to all the footage none of the above “news” organizations would have given a damn about reviewing all the footage.
No, they would not have.
“Without full public access to the complete historical record, there is concern that an ideologically-based narrative of an already polarizing event will take hold in the public consciousness, with destabilizing risks to the legitimacy of Congress, the Capitol Police, and the various federal investigations and prosecutions of January 6 crimes,” attorney Charles Tobin wrote.
Wait a minute… Where was all this concern about “an ideologically-based narrative” when Democrats and their media allies were calling the Capitol riot — and that’s what it was — an “insurrection” in an effort to criminalize any support of the former president while fomenting violence against said supporters of Trump?
The answer to that is simple. They didn’t care. All that mattered was the narrative, the truth be damned.
CBS News said McCarthy’s office didn’t respond to their inquiries, but told the New York Times he intends to make the video more readily available AFTER Carlson uses it.
“I was asked in the press about these tapes, and I said they do belong to the American public. I think sunshine lets everybody make their own judgment,” McCarthy reportedly said.
