Last week, in what many experts believed could be the last public hearing of the January 6th select committee, the group executed their most blatant publicity stunt yet: Voting to subpoena former President Donald Trump.
Never mind the fact that Trump has already been acquitted by the Senate over his potential “incitement” of the events of that day. And not to mention that the committee will likely find itself disbanded in the coming months, especially as Republicans look poised to take control of the House and Senate after the midterm elections.
Oh, and we can’t forget that they’ve only taken legal action against one person who has defied their subpoenas, letting several others simply ignore their summons with impunity.
Yet, despite all of this, Adam Kinzinger seems to think that Donald Trump has something to worry about.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger said former President Donald Trump is “required by law” to testify before the House January 6 committee.
Kinzinger’s comments come after Trump sent a letter responding to the committee’s recent subpoena in which he repeated his disproven claims about the 2020 election being stolen from him.
“We made a decision — in front of the American people, not behind closed doors— to begin the process of subpoenaing the former president. He is required by law to come in, and he can ramble and push back all he wants. That’s the requirement for a congressional subpoena, to come in,” Kinzinger said on the ABC News show “This Week” on Sunday.
The unprecedented use of a congressional subpoena against a former President is already jumping the political shark in a major way, but suggesting that Trump could actually be compelled to appear is simply madness.
