Shootings in Baltimore Up 80% Over 2014

marilyn-mosby-61The current count of 775 shootings in Baltimore is an 80% increase over the same time period last year.  Breitbart News points out the 532 non fatal shootings and the 275 fatal shootings actually add up to 807, but for the sake of argument the lower number will be used.  Those are not the only numbers going up.

Carjackings…Up 74%.  Convenience store robberies (Also known as the Michael Brown Memorial)…Up 149%.  Gas station robberies…Up 170%

All of this comes in the wake of the death of Freddie Gray and the riots, where on the first night, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, told the police to stand down and give the rioters space to do their thing.  This was followed up by race activist Marilyn Mosby bringing murder charges against 6 officers, while ignoring evidence that Gray had a history of trying to injure himself and blaming it on police and the fact a fellow prisoner in the van heard Gray banging himself against the wall of the van.

Obama’s current FBI director, James Comey just last week blamed the fact that police are afraid to do their jobs.  He said that they are afraid of being charged with a crime, a possible reference to Baltimore:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“I don’t know whether that explains it entirely, but I do have a strong sense that some part of the explanation is a chill wind that has blown through American law enforcement over the last year.”

“They told me, ‘We feel like we’re under siege and we don’t feel much like getting out of our cars.”‘

Baltimore can’t blame lax gun control either.  As mayor of Baltimore and governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley greatly increased gun control.  In his own words:

In Maryland, we implemented some of the toughest measures in the nation to crack down on gun violence. The reforms we put in place included required licensing, fingerprinting, background checks, and safety training. We ensured that these requirements applied to all buyers, whether they were acquiring a gun from a dealer, a secondary sale, or as a private gift.

We took action to keep guns off the street and make them less deadly. We banned the sale of assault weapons and limited the size of magazines. And, if a firearm was lost or stolen, we required it to be reported immediately to law enforcement.

More gun control.  More crime.
