Orange County, CA – On Saturday in Yorba Linda, California, a pro-BLM organizer accelerated into a crowd of Trump supporters, injuring two. The pro-Trump rally was the counter protest to the BLM march in Yorba Linda. It became heated (or intense as a journalist put it). Though police attempted to keep the two sides apart at first, things began to go sideways when the Trump supporters crossed hte highway to engage the BLM group. Turner climbed in her car, a white Nissan, and accelerated into the crowd, hitting two people, then attempted to flee. Shortly, she was surrounded by police and arrested.

Turner was charged with suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The injured persons were take to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The competing protests  in Yorba Linda totalled around 300 people.

The Daily Mail reported,

Furious crowd members chased the car, hitting it with flag poles, but within seconds police intervened, taking the female driver into custody.

The two injured people, a man and a woman, were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Carrie Braun, spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department…

… Counter-protesters crossed six-lane Imperial Highway and confronted the BLM protesters, authorities said. The protesters also confronted each other in the parking lot of the Yorba Linda public library, Braun said.

A white sedan came went through the crowd in the parking lot or the exit of the parking lot at the public library, injuring two people, Braun said.

People chased the car as it tried to drive away, and it was eventually stopped and was surrounded by police, she said.

Is this a weapon?

According to the accounts, the police had asked both sides to stay apart. It was reported that the BLM protesters didn’t block the street, but the Trump supporters did, and walked across the highway to engage the BLM protesters. The shouting and shoving escalated with competing chants of  “BLM,BLM” and “USA,USA.” As reports filtered in to the police that some people had weapons, they declared it an unlawful assembly and ordered the people to disperse. Shortly thereafter, the car accelerated through the crowd.

Though Turner was arrested, this is California, after all, so whether the charges will stick is another matter.
