Winning! Mexico Gets One-Month Reprieve from Tariffs, to Send 10,000 Troops to Border

Trump: the "Energizer Bunny" of Politics is getting what he wanted

After Mexico caved a little to the threat of 25% tariffs, Trump agreed to a one-month reprieve on tariffs. But not until Mexico agreed to send 10,000 Mexican troops to the border to stop illegal immigration and fentanyl traffic. Trump agreed to bring in Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to negotiate a wider agreement. Winning.

Mexico has agreed to deploy 10,000 troops to the U.S.-Mexico border in exchange for a one-month delay on President Donald Trump’s threatened tariffs, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Monday.

Sheinbaum made the announcement on social media Monday morning, roughly 12 hours before the tariffs were set to take effect. Trump and Sheinbaum spoke on Monday and agreed that Mexico will do more to combat drug trafficking into the U.S., and that the U.S. will step up efforts to block the flow of firearms into Mexico.

Sheinbaum also said officials with the U.S. and Mexico were beginning talks on wider trade and security issues. Fox digital

Of course, Democrat Schumer tried to use the situation as leverage to b**** about beer prices. Which they did before news of the agreement broke.

Ridiculous attempts at propaganda by Democrats aside, a one-month reprieve will allow negotiations to progress and signals that Trump’s tariff threats were effective in forcing a bit of wisdom. And Mexico isn’t the only one.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

More winning? The “Art of the Deal”? Or higher prices on both sides?

Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau (who recently stopped down until elections can be held) will talk with Trump on Monday to see if an agreement can be reached prior to implementation of tariffs on both sides. Trudeau called Trump earlier on Monday and agreed to a ‘meeting of the minds” later in the day.

It is doubtful that the lame duck PM wants to saddle his country with a 25% tariff on goods, or even a 10% tariff on oil and gas. But he has a bad habit of being a resistance factor due to his far-left views. Even though his popularity has severely waned in recent years, Trudeau must believe he’s still more powerful than Trump. Which is a serious mistake.  Eventually, the trade disparity between Canada and the US will be felt on both sides if an agreement can’t be reached.
