What? Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren Wants Reparations For Gay Couples

Do any of the Democrat candidates in 2020 have a policy plan that doesn’t involve just handing out money to potential voters?

Fresh off a House Committee hearing to discuss reparations for slavery, Senator Elizabeth Warren is proposing tax ‘reparations’ for gay couples who weren’t able to file joint returns prior to repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act.

Warren is reintroducing the Refund Equality Act, legislation that would “permit legally married same-sex couples to amend their filing status for tax returns outside the statute of limitations.”

She had previously introduced a version of this same bill in 2017.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Gay Reparations

“The federal government forced legally married same-sex couples in Massachusetts to file as individuals and pay more in taxes for almost a decade,” Warren said in a statement. “We need to call out that discrimination and to make it right — Congress should pass the Refund Equality Act immediately.”

The obvious flaw in this piece of pandering is the fact that there is no way to determine whether any same-sex couple failed to get married because of the Defense of Marriage Act or if they were simply not at that stage of the relationship quite yet.

Will LGBT couples claim tax discrimination dating back to the day they met? Will they have to prove what day they would have gotten married if they could have otherwise? It’s a dumb idea by a bad politician.

Far-Left Idiocy

A report by the Joint Committee on Taxation indicates same-sex couples could be eligible for a total of $57 million in refunds from the Internal Revenue Service.

The 2017 version of the bill had 37 co-sponsors, all of whom were Democrats, several of which are now running for President of the United States, including Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and Amy Klobuchar.

Side note – Does anyone in the Democrat party know who signed the Defense of Marriage Act into law? The law that defined “spouse” and its related terms to signify a heterosexual couple in a recognized marriage? The legislation that had bipartisan support?

That’s right – Hillary Clinton’s husband. Back when the Democrat party hadn’t quite gone off the reservation with their extremist platforms.

Warren has also supported reparations for slavery, a national sin committed by nobody living today.

America “must confront the dark history of slavery and government-sanctioned discrimination in this country,” Warren said, “including undermining the ability of black families to build wealth in America for generations.”

When will this reparations nonsense end? Nearly every demographic, should they go back far enough in history, can claim some form of discrimination and hardship.
