In a recent screed posted to his blog, Michael Moore, the wealthy filmmaker worth some $50 million, went full Godwin, comparing GOP nominee Donald Trump and his supporters to Nazis while comparing supporters of Hillary Clinton to the French Resistance.
In a piece titled, “5 ways to make sure Trump loses,” he wrote:
From Today Until November 8th, You Are in the French Resistance. Imagine what it was like to be in the French underground while the Germans invaded France. The only possible way to win was an unrelenting, round-the-clock commitment to defeat the Nazis. There was no time for one of those 3-hour French dinners. They did not take vacations. They did not sleep in. They did not have time for “playdates.” The Germans were coming! The Germans were there! Well, friends, our fascist (Drumpf!) is coming! That’s the mind-set you need to be in. For the next three months, the kids have to get themselves to soccer! Work on your marriage in December! There’s no time for hot yoga! No one in the French Resistance ever said “I can’t blow up that Nazi train today ’cause I feel like I might be coming down with a cold!”
There you have it… According to Michael Moore, if you support Donald Trump, you’re a Nazi.
Where to begin…
For starters, the Nazis were a brutal, tyrannical occupying force in France. The last time I checked, Trump and his supporters are American citizens, not occupying invaders. Is Moore inciting violence — including terrorism — against those who support the GOP nominee? If we use the standard set by the Democrat-media complex, then yes, he is.
That’s not the only violent rhetoric he used in his post. At one point, he encouraged Clinton to “slyly stick Trump with a comedy shiv” to make him “implode” on live television.
For those not familiar with the term, “shiv,” consider that it refers to a knife or razor used as a weapon, often one that is improvised. Does Moore want Clinton to murder Trump on live television? In the context of this post, probably not, but if we use the standard set by the media, why yes, he most certainly is, and the Secret Service needs to be contacted — immediately.
He ended his post with this scene from “Casablanca”:
Violent revolutionary rhetoric is nothing new for Moore — he often called for socialist revolution during the heyday of the Occupy Wall Street movement even as he denied his own wealth.
This, by the way, came after a post in which he encouraged Trump’s daughter Ivanka to give him an “intervention.”
Now, he seems to want followers to engage in violent acts against those who support Donald Trump.
