‘We told you so’—Rep. Jim Jordan to Steele Dossier believers

Rep. Jim Jordan: “We told you so.”

Fox News is reporting Congressman Jim Jordan, ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, reminded his colleagues and others who pushed the now-discredited Steele Dossier narrative that Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign somehow colluded with Russia, “We told you so.”

The remark was in reaction to last week’s indictment of a Russian national identified as Igor Danchenko by Special Counsel John Durham. According to Fox, Danchenko “is believed to be the sub-source for former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, who compiled the dossier that served as the basis for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against Trump campaign aide Carter Page in 2016.”

As it turned out, Fox News said, “The dossier was funded by the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign through law firm Perkins Coie.”

Quoted by Fox, Rep. Jordan stated, “Those of us who were in this, you know, back when no one else was, it’s sort of like, we told you so. That sounds arrogant, and I don’t mean to be, but this is what we said. This is what they were doing – what they were accusing President Trump of doing, they were actually doing – they were working with the Russians and it goes right to the Clinton campaign.”

As though to demonstrate bias by the establishment media, Fox News is citing—in a separate report—a new report from the Media Research Center that says after Durham discredited the report, major networks which had devoted considerable broadcast time slamming Donald Trump and his administration have now fallen silent.

“So how much time have the broadcast evening news shows (ABC’s World News TonightCBS Evening NewsNBC Nightly News) spent on the Danchenko indictment from November 4 through November 8,” wrote MRC reporter Geoffrey Dickens. “Zero seconds.” (Emphasis in original.)

A few lines later, Dickens adds, “Zero seconds is a far cry from the exhaustive amount of time the evening nets initially spent on what turned out to be a total hoax.”

Media isn’t simply downplaying the story, is the implication. The media is ignoring it, with the exception of Fox News.

Fox interviewed Rep. Jordan, who remarked, “This is the Clinton campaign – they orchestrated this whole thing.”

The question now is whether the probe will continue and how high it might reach.
