Voters agree there is a border crisis, and majority blames Biden

Two-thirds of likely voters are convinced there is a crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, despite claims from the White House to the contrary, and 53 percent of those voters place the blame squarely in the lap of Joe Biden.

According to Rasmussen Reports, voters who blame Biden agree with the statement, “President Biden himself … has caused the [border] crisis with both his rhetoric and his policies.” The quote was excerpted from a column written several days ago by Ken Cuccinelli, a former Trump administration official.

The Rasmussen survey revealing these numbers was taken March 18 and 21.

This cannot be good news for Democrat Biden, whose first two months in office have been marked by a rush on the border by would-be illegal immigrants. He has halted construction on the border wall, cancelled the Keystone pipeline project, an embarrassing stumble on the stairs leading up to Air Force One, and his continued inaccessibility by the press.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Fox News is reporting that the Biden administration “ignored warning signs…of an impending crisis at the border” but evidently ignored them. That warning came in November from then-acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan.
Strangely, however, the Rasmussen daily presidential tracking poll shows Biden pulling in a 49 percent approval rating from likely voters on his job performance so far. Thirty-two percent “strongly” approve of the job he is doing.

But is that going to offset voter dissatisfaction over the border situation? Sixty-five percent of survey respondents agree with a quote from House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy: “At no time is it right to break the law and come into the United States illegally.”

The situation appears to be deteriorating and Fox on Monday published photos reportedly taken by a Democrat Congressman Henry Cuellar of Texas, showing migrants being held at the border facility in Donna, Texas. They are inside clear pens “akin to cages,” Fox reported. Many are sleeping on the floor on pads, and they are covered with aluminum blankets, the story said.

While most appear to be wearing masks, this is the kind of image for which former President Donald Trump would have been skewered on national television. But it is clear Biden and his administration own this situation.

The survey also revealed that 38 percent of voters don’t agree the border situation is all Biden’s fault.
