Video & Written Proof: The Birth of the ‘Birther Movement’ Began with Hillary’s People

Hillary Clinton certainly seems hell-bent for leather to keep beating the Birther drum while simultaneously blaming Donald Trump for such. But the 800 pound gorilla that Clinton refuses to acknowledge is that it was her people that gave birth to that movement to begin with.

Now as anyone who even mildly follows politics knows, any first-rate politician never has a direct trail from themselves to any given dirty tricks. And as anyone who even mildly follows politics knows, Hillary Clinton is a first-rate politician. By the way, that’s not meant as a compliment.

Hillary also has trouble with letting go of the false accusation of Trump being in bed with the Klan. Yet nary a peep from her regarding the endorsement of Will Quigg, Grand Dragon of the Loyal White Knights in California.

Much like the California Grand Dragon, Clinton has yet to renounce her own hard core supporters who initiated the Birther Movement.

Case in point: In a 2011 investigative report done by Jon Swaine of Britain’s left-leaning newspaper The Telegraph. As reporter Swaine noted of the 2008 Democratic Party’s primary race;

An anonymous email circulated by supporters of Mrs Clinton, Mr Obama’s main rival for the party’s nomination, thrust a new allegation into the national spotlight — that he had not been born in Hawaii.

“Barack Obama’s mother was living in Kenya with his Arab-African father late in her pregnancy,” it said. “She was not allowed to travel by plane then, so Barack Obama was born there and his mother then took him to Hawaii to register his birth.” Then in August 2008 Phil Berg, an ex-deputy attorney general for Pennsylvania and a renowned conspiracy theorist, filed a lawsuit alleging that Mr Obama was ineligible to be a candidate.

“Obama carries multiple citizenships and is ineligible to run for President of the United States. United States Constitution, Article II, Section 1,” it said.

Speaking of ex-deputy attorney general for Pennsylvania Phil Berg, another liberal news site, the Philadelphia Weekly, noted in 2009 some rather embarrassing facts that Clinton, her campaign and the entire Democratic Party would like to forget.

What makes Berg notable, beyond the Alpha Birther status, is that he doesn’t fit the profile of the typical Obama hater. At 65, he’s a lifelong Democrat, having spent 31 years as a Democratic Committeeman in Philadelphia and Montgomery County, as well as serving as chairman of the Montgomery County Democratic Party back in the late ’80s.

He’s a lifetime member of the NAACP. He served as a deputy attorney general during both of [Democrat] Milton Shapp’s two terms as governor back in the ’70s. He ran as the pro-choice candidate for governor against Bob Casey Sr. during the Democratic gubernatorial primary in 1990, and although he lost the nomination Berg did net a respectable 23 percent of the vote against a sitting governor.

Then comes a 2010 article from one of America’s heavy hitters of liberalism, The Daily Beast.

… the Birther conspiracy theory was first concocted by renegade members of the original Obama haters, Party Unity My Ass, known more commonly by their acronym, the PUMAs. They were a splinter group of hard-core Hillary Clinton supporters who did not want to give up the ghost after the bitter 50-state Bataan Death March to the 2008 Democratic nomination.

In the early summer of ’08, message boards on sites like PUMAParty.com began lighting up with the ultimate reversal-of-fortune fantasy—that their party’s nomination could be overturned on constitutional grounds. “Obama May Be Illegal to Be Elected President!” read one representative e-mail: “This came from a USNA [U.S. Naval Academy] alumnus. It’ll be interesting to see how the media handle this…WRITE TO YOUR LOCAL newspaper editors etc. Keep this out there everyday possible. Also write to the DNC too!”

As they say on the infomercials; but wait, there’s more. Yet another left-of-center paper, Britain’s Daily Mail cited from the 2008 campaign trail that it was the Clinton Camp who circulated the now famous picture of Barack Obama dressed in traditional East African togs during a 2006 visit to his ancestral homeland.

At least guilty of stoking the fires of Birtherism, at the Daily Mail reported;

The snapshot, which shows Mr Obama, 46, wearing a white headdress and matching robes during a visit to Kenya, was published on a popular American website.

Campaign chiefs for the Illinois senator have reacted furiously, claiming the image had been leaked to stoke up fears of terrorism and associate Mr Obama with similar pictures of Osama Bin Laden.

David Plouffe, Mr Obama’s campaign manager, said: “On the very day that Senator Clinton is giving a speech about restoring respect for America in the world, her campaign has engaged in the most shameful, offensive, fear-mongering we’ve seen from either party in this election.”

Susan Rice, Mr Obama’s foreign policy adviser, claimed circulation of the photograph was divisive, and suggested “the customs and cultures of other parts of the world are worthy of ridicule or condemnation.”

But Mrs Clinton’s election team angrily dismissed the claims, saying it was Mr Obama’s response to the leak which was offensive.

“Enough,” said Maggie Williams, Mrs Clinton’s campaign manager. “If Barack Obama’s campaign wants to suggest a photo of him wearing traditional clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed.

Then there’s this 2011 Politico story on the roots of birtherism, which notes:

The answer lies in Democratic, not Republican politics, and in the bitter, exhausting spring of 2008. At the time, the Democratic presidential primary was slipping away from Hillary Clinton and some of her most passionate supporters grasped for something, anything that would deal a final reversal to Barack Obama.
