Video of the Day: Christians in Greenville, Miss. Ticketed For Sitting Inside Cars At Church Parking Lot With Windows Rolled Up
It seems that a number of jurisdictions around the country are doing all they can to stifle freedom, all in the name of protecting people from the coronavirus pandemic. One of the most recent examples comes from Greenville, Mississippi, where Christians were given $500 tickets for sitting inside their cars in a church parking lot with the windows rolled up in order to listen to the day’s sermon.
According to The Blaze:
Temple Baptist members were staying in their vehicles with the windows rolled up to listen to Pastor Arthur Scott’s sermon on the radio, the paper said.
Lee Gordon — a 23-year member of the church as well as a representative for the Washington County Board of Supervisors — told the Democrat-Times the church has been using a low-power FM frequency to broadcast sermons in the parking lot for the last three weeks.
“The preacher is in the church at the pulpit, and we are streaming the service live as well,” Gordon added to the paper. “But a lot of our membership is elderly and [lacks access to streaming technology].”
One church member recorded his encounter with the local police officer who issued him a citation:

Despite getting the tickets Wednesday, Gordon told the paper that Temple Baptist plans on holding Easter morning services in the parking lot.
He pointed out to the paper that a similar gathering was taking place not too far from the church parking lot.
“There’s 25 cars 200 yards away all in the same place at the Sonic Drive-In. What we’re doing endangers nobody,” he said.
PJMedia also noted:
“One of the police officers said the mayor wanted to make an example of our church,” Temple Baptist Church Pastor Arthur Scott told Todd Starnes. “I told them to get some more tickets ready because we will be preaching Sunday morning and Sunday night.”

“The police officer said I might go to jail,” Scott added. “If it means going to jail and if it takes that for me to keep preaching, I’ll be glad to go to jail.”
