Video: Mob attacks motorists, police during impromptu memorial for slain rapper

Rapper XXXTentacion was killed near Miami on Monday, June 20.  On Tuesday night, an impromptu memorial was launched and as the memorial proceeded, chaos erupted where mobs attacked motorists and law enforcement.

The Maven.net, Blue Lives Matter reported that Los Angeles police officers in riot gear were dispatched to dispel the chaos.

The Maven further reported:

“I don’t know how they can just bring out the cops,” one fan in attendance told KABC. “We’re just people trying to like, remember their favorite artist because people really impact other people by their music. This is how people get through things.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Approximately 500 people blocked off a section of Melrose Avenue during an impromptu memorial for the 20-year-old rapper, who was gunned down by two suspects outside RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on Monday afternoon.

The memorial was scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m., according to a Facebook page promoting the event.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., the crowd gathered in the middle of the street, waving candles and cell phone lights in the air, KABC reported.

Others used candles to form an “X” in the roadway.

“It was really good,” another fan told KABC. “Everybody seemed happy and positive and singing along and everything like that. Then it just got way overcrowded.”

By 9:30 p.m., the crowd had grown to approximately 1,000 people, LAPD Officer Tony Im told the Los Angeles Times.

Mosh pits erupted and attendees began jumping off of rooftops onto the crowd below as the gathering spilled outside of the blocked-off area on Melrose Avenue, KABC reported.

Others mobbed passing vehicles and climbed on top of cars that were passing through, video footage showed.

People set off fireworks, which startled the crowd and sent throngs of individuals running, according to the Los Angeles Times.

One 20-year-old individual was treated for cuts to the head, but the cause of the person’s injuries was unclear. As the chaos mounted, LAPD officers dressed in riot gear moved into the area to dispel the crowd with less-lethal projectiles, KABC reported.
