Video: Joy Behar Wants Trump Charged, Sued By ACLU For ‘Hate Speech’

Joy Behar, co-host of ‘The View,’ believes President Trump should be charged for hate speech stemming from a rally in which supporters began chanting “send her back” in reference to Ilhan Omar.

Trump never uttered those words, but did, rightfully so, call out Omar (D-MN) and the rest of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ‘squad’ for their constant anti-Semitic and anti-American rhetoric.

“The leading voices of the Democrat Party are left-wing extremists who reject everything our nation stands for,” Trump explained to the crowd in attendance. “These left-wing ideologues see our nation as a force of evil.”

Nothing factually inaccurate there, and certainly not hate speech. Behar, who has a history of calling for the President to be jailed, didn’t quite understand that and presented this wild suggestion …

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“Why can’t he be brought up on charges of hate speech?” Behar asked. “Why can’t he be sued by the ACLU for hate speech? I don’t get it. How does he get away with this?”

Why he Can’t

Well Joy, it’s because, as I’m sure you know, we live in a country founded on freedom of speech, as written in the First Amendment.

I know, I know … Not many on your side of the political aisle are big believers in the Constitution, but there it is.

“The First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects speech no matter how offensive its content,” the American Library Association writes. “Merely offensive or bigoted speech does not rise to that level.”

Besides, if bigoted speech were a chargeable offense, it’d be Omar facing the legal ramifications.

Meanwhile, President Trump acknowledged the poor tone of the “send her back” chants and said he disagrees with them.

“I was not happy with it,” the President said. “I disagree with it.”

The denunciation is a key clarification that what the President said involved telling the ‘Squad’ they were free to leave the country if they don’t like America. Not a demand to send her packing.

Joy’s Jail Fantasy

In May, Behar said Trump and any Republicans unwilling to play along with Congressional Democrats and their relentless, baseless investigations of the administration, should be “thrown in jail.”

“This is an unbelievable corrupt president, corrupt administration, and the Republican Party is right behind him, and they all should be thrown into jail as far as I’m concerned,” she seethed.

She’s also fantasized about the President’s children being in jail, hinting Trump needed to “save the pardons for his children,” referencing a baseless assumption that either Donald Trump Jr. or Ivanka would eventually be indicted in the Russia collusion hoax.
