Democratic Sen. Jon Tester offered advice to his colleagues challenging President Trump for the White House – It’s okay to punch him in the face.
We’re assuming Tester was going with hyperbole here, but can you imagine if the President said this about any of his challengers in the upcoming 2020 election? He’d be pilloried for promoting violence on a 24/7 news cycle covering the comments.
Tester’s statement, however, has slipped under the radar.
Speaking with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday, the Montana congressman urged candidates to stay on topic and not take “the bait” when it comes to Trump’s supposed “racism.”
But, he added, you don’t run from the President, you stand and fight.
“I don’t think, even in states where Donald Trump won big, that it does you any good running away from Donald Trump,” Tester related. “I think you need to go back and punch him in the face. I mean, the truth is that this guy is bad for the country.”
No, no … that’s not the truth.
Is He Onto Something?
Tester does speak from some experience, though.
He won re-election in 2018, a nailbiter against Republican opponent Matt Rosendale, despite sustaining consistent political attacks by the President.
Trump called on Tester to resign after the latter made specious accusations against the President’s pick to run the Department of Veterans Affairs, Ronny Jackson.
“Allegations made by Senator Jon Tester against Admiral/Doctor Ron Jackson are proving false,” Trump said. “The Secret Service is unable to confirm (in fact they deny) any of the phony Democrat charges which have absolutely devastated the wonderful Jackson family. Tester should resign.”
He didn’t, and Jackson had to pull his name from consideration due to the distraction Tester had caused.
In August of 2018, Tester went above and beyond simply suggesting Trump needed a punch in the face when he teamed up with the rock band Pearl Jam for a fundraising concert.
The band issued a promotional poster featuring a bald eagle picking at the skeletal remains of the President in front of a burning White House.

Fantasies about a dead President. How progressive.
The President is consistently accused of promoting violence against his opponents. The most recent example is his current ongoing feud with the ‘Squad.’
When a Democrat does it, the media remains obediently silent.
