Video: Calif. senator calls 2A supporters ‘heartless…vicious…dirty…supporters of terrorism’

Calif. state Senator Isadore Hall accuses gun owners of supporting terrorismDecorum and professionalism took a serious holiday in the California Assembly Public Safety Committee on June 14 when state Senator Isadore Hall, D-South Bay/Los Angeles, and Assemblyman Evan Low, D-Cupertino, publicly and falsely accused Sam Paredes, executive director of Gun Owners of California (GOC) and his 2nd Amendment colleagues of being personally responsible for the 49 deaths in Orlando – each of whom were slaughtered by a radical Islamist terrorist, Paredes said on the group’s website.

According to these two lawmakers, the GOC is directly responsible for the murders committed by Omar Mateen, a registered Democrat and a radical Muslim.

Low, for example, falsely claimed that “lives have been cut because of your organization.”

Next up was Hall, who went further, calling the group supporters of terrorism.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

According to Hall, the GOC and gun owners in general are “heartless people (who) care not about individuals or people…they care mostly about holding a weapon in their hand…and [they] defend senseless acts of terror….they are heartless, vicious and dirty with filthy mouths…”

And he suggested they have their mouths washed out with soap.

Here’s the video, courtesy of the GOC:

Paredes responded:

I could write a book on legislative procedure and protocol – how the rules are dismissively ignored, and those of us on the more conservative side are bullied, disrespected, misrepresented, ignored and lied about.  But in my 35 plus years of walking the halls of the California Capitol, I have never been personally blamed for the deaths of anyone.  Some have come close – pointing an angry finger in my face when I’ve talked plainly about who the perpetrators of gun violence really are, but no one has ever charged me – or those I represent as the Executive Director of Gun Owners of California – with defending acts of terror and murder.

I’m a big boy and I have no trouble debating the issues with those of opposing views, but the charges levied by Low and Hall have gone so far beyond the pale that GOC refuses to let such remarks hang unchallenged in the proverbial public air.  They have not only impugned my personal character, but that of every member of my organization well as our partners in the NRA, CPRA and Firearms Policy Coalition.

To deflect the blame to innocent people for the deaths of other innocent people is not only outrageous, it’s profoundly ignorant.  Statistics and data aside, it’s pretty difficult to imagine that someone who is willing to brutally – and illegally, for that matter – slaughter a club full of people isn’t too interested in obeying any other law.  If someone can get their hands on a functioning firearm while sitting in a cinder block cell in prison, why would anyone think for a nanosecond that a terrorist couldn’t get his hands on whatever he wanted – whenever he wanted – and wherever he wanted?  It’s a mindset that the millions of law abiding gun owners throughout the state and nation quite literally can’t wrap their heads around.

Daisy Luther wrote at the DC Clothesline:

They want to take away my power and reduce me to a weaker status. They want to make it more likely that I am a victim of someone bigger, stronger, and better armed. All the while, they pretend to be pro-woman? They act as though the Democrat-run state congress wants equality for women, but the very thing that puts women on equal footing is the thing they strive to take away.

The incoherent insults, the poor grammar, and the bars of soap really don’t make a point about gun owners.

The point that was made here was about the death of the legislative process, in which both sides supposedly get a voice. It endorses the idea of legislation without representation. This unprofessional attack tells you everything you need to know about the people who would make the laws. This tells you everything you need to know about our broken system of partisan grandstanding, where the majority gleefully oppresses the minority.

Indeed, these attacks do tell us everything we need to know about liberal anti-gun lawmakers.  They hate freedom, and they hate those of us who support the Constitution and the right to keep and bear arms.  Worse yet, they hate us more than they hate the real terrorists who commit these senseless acts.

“Terrorists, by their very nature, are zealous in their hatred; thus, they are intensely committed to an ideology of destruction.  And they are enormously patient.  They will never let reason nor compassion deter a murderous act, and they certainly won’t let ineffective laws keep them from fulfilling their jihadist goal,” Paredes added.

Meanwhile, Democrats will never let reason, truth and common sense get in the way of stripping law-abiding Americans of their Constitutional rights.  They will lie, demagogue and toss false accusations to whip up their low-information base all in an effort to enact their brand of tyranny.

And that’s why every single Democrat in America needs to be soundly defeated this November.
