“With less than four weeks to go before the election, Americans are more tuned in to the future of the Supreme Court than at any time in recent memory,” writes Atlantic staff writer Emma Green in an article titled “Biden and Harris need an answer on court packing.”
Indeed, the answer to that question could determine the outcome of the election. If the answer is yes, Biden stands to lose moderate Democrats, who oppose the practice. If he answers no, there could be a mass defection by the far Left wing of the party.
Biden, who has been dodging the question for the past several weeks, was asked again while in Arizona. His very curious response was “the moment I answer that question, the headline in every one of your papers will be about that.” Well, yes, that’s true — but what of it? Candidates state their position on key issues in every election, and in every election those statements make headlines.
Is America headed for a recession?
In Biden’s case, the negative fallout is likely to be that much more severe because he has been stalling on an answer for so long.
The simple fact, for those interested, is that he already answered the question. It was a year ago when Biden was still just one of a field of Democrats seeking the party’s presidential nomination. His chances of walking off with the big prize were slim back then, and he was able to speak his mind freely because he hadn’t yet sold out to the socialist wing of the party. His answer was an unequivocal no. Watch:
Does this mean that his answer would be the same if asked again now? No, but if he gives a different answer, that just makes this the latest position on which he has done a 180. (Just Google “fracking.”) Either way it doesn’t reflect well on him as a prospective leader of the free world.
